I have always thought of horror movies as bad acting, even worst story and some scenes that either gross you out or make you jump.
But this movie sure surprised me!
The Thing got a interesting plot (the isolation reminds me of The Shining), good acting and some gross scenes (you will go DAFAQ IS THAT THING!, at least i did).
Ploy summary:
Scientists in the Antarctic are confronted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of the people that it kills.
The story follows a camp of idk (scientist maybe they seemed very out-of place) isolated in the ice antarctica.
The movie start with a helicopter chasing a dog (while a guy is trying to shoot it) and we see the sign "Norge" (=norway in Norwegian).
The dog runs into the US camp with the angry Norwegians after it.
And they actually say "Se til helvete og kom dere vekk. Det er ikke en bikkje, det er en slags ting! Det imiterer en bikkje, det er ikke virkelig! Kom dere vekk, idioter!" This is translated to: "Get the hell outta there. That's not a dog, it's some sort of thing! It's imitating a dog, it isn't real! Get away, you idiots!".
Stupid americans should have listen to the Norwegians!
A chain reaction of incidents happen and the Norwegians are dead (too lazy too explian) and a Bennings is shot in his leg but the dog is fine.
They go to the Norwegians camp to discover why they went crazy.
They discovers a strange burned dead body, a hole (for a fossil) and some tapes.
They bring back the body to examen it and soon after they brought it back, SHIT GETS REAL!
The thing trys to transform into a dog but they quickly found it and start shooting it down, leading to its death. (?) (This is my notes from the part when the "the thing" starts transforming into a dog.)
"WHHHHHAAAAAATTTTYYYYY TTHHHHTHTHREEAAAAEAAEA VFFFFFFGHUUUUUCCCCVKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
And also...
"DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDddddddddddddddddddddddddddAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaFffffffffffffffffffffffUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuQQQQQQQQQQQqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq"
And this pretty much explains it all.
Blair "the doc" explians to them that "the thing" can transform into any living breathing creature.
Knowing that "the thing" can be anyone of them, they all panic and gets very paranoid but needless to that they organize to hunt down "the thing".
The isolation, to be all alone while knowing that there isn't any human withing 100 miles except a Alien monster who is trying to kill and transform into you.
And to know that one of your friends may be that alien.
When something like that happens, Antartica isn't the best place to be, and this movie shows it!
The ending is pretty unique.
Spoiler:
R.J. MacReady and the thing (transformed into Childs) is facing each other by the wrecked camp.
MacReady knows that Childs is "the thing" and "the thing" knows that it can't fool MacReady any more.
So the both of them are chilling, knowing that they are both FUCKED either way they go.
The Thing gets a 9/10 from me (Sweden is in a unofficial war with norway, so to see those suckers get smoked, FUCK YEA.) (I don't really have anything agains Norwegians)
Surprisingly good story, with some gross scenes makes this movie stand out from the rest of the horror crowd! Vertigo 1958

Spoiler:
Let's see here the last Hitchcock movie i've watched was Rear Window (Very good movie, maybe i review that one someday).
Even if i've watched some of "The Master of Suspense" movies, i didn't really expect to much out of this movie.
But i will say this movie really delivers!
Plot summary:
A San Francisco detective suffering from acrophobia investigates the strange activities of an old friend's wife, all the while becoming dangerously obsessed with her.
Story: Scottie is a ex cop who quits his job because of his Acrophobia, he watched his colleague fall for his death while trying to help him.
He's old friend Gavin calls saying he wants to speak with him.
Scottie gets there and he gives him a case, stalk his wife.
After following his wife he suspects that she maybe possessed by Carlotta's ghost, because she keeps having this memory loss and she visits a museum only to see a picture off Carlotta.
(Later in the movie)
She drives to a place under the golden bridge (in san fransisco), there she trys to drown herslef.
Scottie sees this and dives after her to save her.
He brings her to his place where they both fall in love.
While Scottie is trying to solve her problem with Carlotta.
As the movie progressiv she becomes even more unstable and Scottie is working his ass of trying to finger out what the fuck is happening.
The best scene got to be the ending scene, it's very ironic, i don't want to give to much details.
The music is awesome and fits perfectly.
And once again "The Master of Suspense" is really living up to his name, keeping us woundering what's wrong with the girl the whole movie!
Overall score 8/10 but for the music 9/10
This is a fine piece of art from Hitchcock.
And sadly no, i didn't saw Hitchcock through the whole movie )=
(AS far as i know Hitchcock is always in his own movies, he'll be either in the background or accidentally bumped into the actors, he usually have like 3-5 sec screentime)
Gran Torino 2008
Screenshots:
Spoiler:
So this movie air last week on the TV but i missed it, so here it is Gran Torino
with clit eastwood!
Plot summary:
Disgruntled Korean War vet Walt Kowalski sets out to reform his neighbor, a young Hmong teenager, who tried to steal Kowalski's prized possession: his 1972 Gran Torino.
Plot: Walt is former soldier from the korea war and dislikes koreans but still he lives in a poor block filled with koreans.
The movie begins showing how (some of) todays teenagers act like complete assholes not caring a single bit.
And they are trying to get his Gran Torino, not by stealing but get it legally after his death, even his son is trying to get his shit and take him to a retirement.
After that a new (big) korean family moves in next door, sue and Thao.
Thao quickly (but not on purpose) gets involved in a korean gang and he's entrance test is to steal Walt's Gran Torino.
Unfortunate for thao Walt quickly founds him and trys to shoot him.
After that Thao doesn't want get involved with the gang anymore and the gang responds by trying with force to get thao in and steal the Gran Torino.
While trying to pull Thao in the car they accidentally steps on Walt's (perfect) lawn, He gets upset pulling out his pistol and "accidentally" saves Thao.
The whole block is greatful and start giving him gifts and Thao is forced to work for Walt by his family to please him after what he done.
Walt quickly sees that Thao is a complete pussy and trys to man-him-up a little bit.
The rest you'll have to see by yourself.
"The girls goes to colleges, and the boys goes to jail."
This movies show that Racists can unracist themself and that all teenagers are not in fact complete assholes.
And that old people needs more respect.
Both Thao and Walt is being used, Thao to get in a gang and trys stealing walts's car and Walt because he's old and everybody wants either his car or his house.
The best scene is in the end!
There Walt gets in a shoot out with like 6 - 1 against him, and without a gun, he dies but still wins!
Overall 10/10
This movie was touching and just perfect.
Badass sense 1966. Det Sjunde Inseglet, The Seventh Seal 1957
Oh gawd it was a long time sense a watch a swedish movie (finally i don't have to read the sub), this is my first Bergman movie and it's true what they say, this movie is really weird and symbolic.
Screenshots:
Spoiler:
So here it is my review of "Det sjunde Inseglet"
Plot summary:
A man seeks answers about life, death, and the existence of God as he plays chess against the Grim Reaper during the Black Plague.
The story is about a knight who have just got home from a crusade and he wants to know if there is a god.
This movie is set when the plague was around killing everyone in sight.
In the begining of the movie Death seeks to find the knight and when he do the knight asks Death/ the grim reapor if he would play chess with his life at stake.
Meaning that if Death lost he would no long go after the knight ever again but if the knight lost, he and his friends would come with him.
This chess match is really the whole movie every step the knight takes is also a move in the match.
Quote: "Döden besökte mig i morse, vi spela schack tillsammas."
"Death visited me this morning, we played chess together."
So in a country without hope, the knight seeks to find hope and so he find it in a young family of actors.
And he does everything in his power to save the last hope from their death.
You can't hide from death, he will eventually find you.
Good and bad parts:
The script is amazing! (i don't really think of the script that much otherwise)
But this is a swedish movie so they'll talk very slow, like a poem.
Which isn't necessary a bad thing.
I watch this movie in 480p and the sound was horrible!
They switch to fast between scenes with music and a scenes without it.
They music doesn't even die out (it goes slowly quiet) it just dead stops.
and you can really hear that they recorded the dialog afterwards.
Overall this movie was surprisingly good! (even with the sound)
If you have time to see a very symbolic movie do it, it's worth the cost.
Maybe not if you're bored and just wants to see a action movie, then stay as faraway from this movie as possible.
Score 9.1/10
It's worth a 9.1 mainly because of the chess match, it's very philosophic.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest(1975)
By: Ryssen and Aphrodite
Summary:
The movie opens with Randle McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) being admitted to a mental institution for evaluation. To the doctor, he doesn’t show any signs of illness, but they keep him just to be sure.
He meets a group of other patients whom all show some symptoms of instability. For example, Billy Bibbit is a tall you man who stutters. The head nurse, Mildred Ratched is a cold, insensitive woman who runs the hospital under a clenched fist. As the movie progresses, she is shown to be the cause of the patients' conditions.
During one of the meetings, McMurphy brings the topic of the World Series up. You can see the others patients; faces light up, excited at the prospect of watching the game. Nurse Ratched, however, is completely against the idea, not willing to change the schedule. After a while, she consents to a vote, agreeing that if the majority raises their hands, she will allow them to watch it. Under Ratched's stern gaze, only two people raise their hands; McMurphy and Martini. Satisfied, Ratched has them return to the group session. At another meeting, McMurphy persists for another vote. The nurse allows it, irritated at McMurphy's interruption. This time, after convincing, everyone in the group lifts there hand up. But! Nurse Ratched announces that this was for the majority vote, and there are still other patents that did not vote. Angered, McMurphy tries to get the other patients to raise their hand, but to no avail.
Nurse Ratched adjourns the meeting, and declares the vote over. Seconds after, Chief Bromden raises his hand, winning the majority vote. But, Nurse Ratched does not count it, saying that the vote was over. He is angered, and later narrates the game to her irritation.
This shows just how oppressive she is, not allowing her patients to even watch a single game. Her patients are all clearly fearful of her, focusing on obeying her more than trying to connect to the outside world. Her stern glare is enough to quiet fits of temper by Dale Harding, a educated paranoid man.
Randle McMurphy later sneaks onto a bus and hijacks it, taking the patients deep sea fishing. They all enjoy themselves, relaxing and focusing on the fishing with the fear of Nurse Ratched. Unfortunately, Randy is committed to the ward for being very dangerous, apparent with his little stunt.
He, angered at the decision, and, along with Chief Bromden, ends up fighting with he nurses and orderlies. This results in a session of violent shock therapy treatment. The viewers watch as he convulses from he electricity, having a seizure-like episode. He later stumbles back to the ward, head rolling around, muttering to himself.
Everyone becomes silent, shocked and horrified at his later condition. To everyone’s' surprise, he straightens up and laughs at them, joking at he had them all fooled. Everyone relaxes and laughs along, relieved that he was fine. The scene ends with Nurse Ratched's annoyed face, displeased with the stunt that McMurphy pulled.
McMurphy later plans with chief an escape, using the Hydrotherapy unit to break oven the window and escape. He brings over two women with lots of alcohol, planning to have a party. After the party, the ward is in shambles, covered in spilled liquor, broken equipment and Christmas decorations. In the morning, Ratched returns, finding the messy ward. She is visibly angered, and all of her patients become complacent, scared of her. She conducts a head count, and discovers only Billy Bibbit missing. He is discovered naked in a room, with a woman in his arms. He is confident and doesn’t stutter when he appears under the clapping of the other members. But, the second Nurse Ratched threatens to tell his mother, he becomes hysterical, and is dragged into a room to see the Doctor. You later hear a nurse's scream, and everyone finds him lying on the floor, clutching a shard of glass lying in a pool of blood. He had killed himself fearful of the consequences of his actions.
McMurphy is angered at the death of his friend, and attacks Nurse Ratched, trying to strangle her. If not for being knocked out by a orderly, he would have succeeded. Later that evening, you find the Nurse with a neck brace, pale and speaking in a thin, pained voice. That night, Chief sees McMurphy being dragged back to the room, limp and stumbling. He is set onto the bed and remains motionless, as if asleep. To the horror of Chief Bromden, McMurphy is found to be unresponsive, with his head limp and his eyes rolling around in his head. Looking closer, Bromden learns what had happened. McMurphy was given a lobotomy, and was turned into a lifeless husk of his former self.
He pressed a pillow to McMurphy’s face, harboring a sad expression as he suffocated him.
Characters:
"a silent, dignified, huge and towering Indian giant "Chief" Bromden, aka "Broom" (Creek Indian Will Sampson in his film debut) - a "deaf and dumb Indian" "as big as a god-damn tree trunk" - with a father blinded after many years of alcoholism
a pathetic, incessantly stuttering, paranoid boychild, thirty-year old Billy Bibbit (Brad Dourif in his film debut) - shy, virginal, impressionable, and deathly afraid of his mother
an ineffectual, rationalizing intellectual Dale Harding (William Redfield) - relatively sane but unable to get over his wife's betrayal and adultery when she "seeks attention elsewhere"
an insecure neurotic Charlie Cheswick (Sydney Lassick) lacking self-confidence
a short, smiling Martini (Danny De Vito in one of his earliest roles) with an immature personality
a cynical, trouble-making sadist Taber (Christopher Lloyd in his film debut)"

Quotes:
-“In one week, I bet I can put a bug so far up her ass, she don't know whether to shit or wind her wristwatch."
-"a little change never hurt huh? A little variety?
-"They uh, was givin' me ten thousand watts a day, you know, and I'm hot to trot. The next woman takes me out is gonna light up like a pinball machine, and pay off in silver dollars"
"McMurphy: I can't take it no more. I gotta get outta here.
Chief Bromden: I can't. I just can't.
McMurphy: It's easier than you think, Chief.
Chief Bromden: For you, maybe. You're a lot bigger than me. " - What he means is he's big on the outside but inside he's like a lego piece.
"And now they're telling me I'm crazy over here because I don't sit there like a goddamn vegetable. Don't make a bit of sense to me. If that's what's bein' crazy is, then I'm senseless, out of it, gone-down-the-road, wacko. But no more, no less, that's it." - The Irony
Rating: 10\10
This movie is a brilliant demonstration of Mental hospitals and their treatment of the patients. Even the cruel †˜therapies’ are shown, including the electroconvulsive therapy and the Lobotomy. It also shows how conditions are not always physical, or inborn as usually portrayed. Most of the ward’s conditions were created due to Nurse Ratched’s oppressive, dominating rule. This prevented the patients from healing; only becoming worse and worse with the stiff, mind numbing schedule and humiliating group discussions. The most outstanding part to me was McMurphy at the end, after his Lobotomy. The transformation from the energetic, proud man to the lifeless, unresponsive body was so significant that it clearly showed the horrors of a Lobotomy.
Music:
Also the music theme is awesome, it fits like a charm.

Questions:
Spoiler:
1. Was it right to kill McMurphy?
2. Was the Nurse Ratched making the patients better or worse?
3. Did the movie change the way that people saw Mental hospitals?
Answers:
Spoiler:
1.Yes, I believe that killing Nicholson was the right decision. His friend prevented him from spending the rest of his life as a vegetable, wasting away in the hospital with the oppressive nurse. He was a proud man, not willing to submit to anyone, following through with his own plans. He was reduced to, perhaps, the living dead against his own will and did not deserve to be seen in such a pathetic, shameful state.
2.Nurse Ratched was making the patients worse by restricting their liveliness and inflicting fear and pain to them. They were, as McMurphy noticed, more fearful of Ratched then focusing on becoming functional on the outside world. They are also making it worst for them (not in all cases) they have to speak to "normal" people not be isolated in a freak house.
3.I believe it exposed the world, even if dramatized, to mental hospitals and the treatments. It showed what cruel and inhumane treatments were used on the patients. I know that I will never look at such asylums the same way, with the lobotomies and the shock therapy lingering in my memories.
Yeah, it was okay, not really worth writing home about.
Thanks!
Yeah, I would still suggest you watch it though, as it's a part of anime history, just go in with a big ol grain of salt.

I found the movies "Botched" very... Interesting. It is supposed to be a horror comedy, bou you have to see for yourself. after 1/3 the movie goes full WTF?
Then there is "in China spesen der Honde" (They eat dogs in China) - I suppose its a Drama about Life and Karma. Very interesting, partially funny and watchable as well.
Nosfeatu - Prettzy much the first vampire moie. it is a Silent Movie with most of the texts being handwritten, so its hard to keep track. The story is inspired by Dracula and is worth the experience
what next, Idiocracy. Comedy, and a bit critical about society. but overall very good!
^this review is sponsered by BRAWNDO- THE THIRST MUTILATOR!
Thas it for now, I'll add Iron Sky to the list if its any good

King of Thorns - pretty sleeping beautyXResident evil -like Anime
and News Movie - A movie based on the The Onion News show. satiric, but I didnt find it that good. Its an ADD movie, since there is no real coherent storyline...
