3d anime?
To the fansub part of the article. It pretty simple:
1. Dual launch or quicker subbing from the production side... hire weebs with translation skills.. or the fucking fansubbers.
2. Your dvd and bd in japanese cost to damn much... ore no imouto first disk 59.99$ american... dvd version.. and that why i split the costs with friends over there and they burn me a BD copy.
3. Most of the show picked up in the west is shite... bring us some good titles.
4. end the region code.
5. kill the censors.
6. kill the import/export rules on quantity without a high license.

It's a bit vague by what is meant by "3D anime."
Is that full Pixar-like CGI? Or just less 'hand-drawn' stuff? Or what?

Anyway, I still don't really by into the supposed level of research this article is referring to, but I'm certainly less qualified to make that decision than the person claiming to the contrary.
I just fail to see how fansubbers are doing that much damage. It doesn't seem like the numbers really add up to the assumption that fansubbing is ruining the anime industry. Least of all does it seem like it is affecting it in Japan.
That's still the only part I'll even contest over. The other points seem more like opinions and hearsay to me regardless of the official nature of the post or graphs for that matter.

Comparing the Google Translate to the post, the translation seems fairly accurate. It's one of the main issues with anime in the US right now. Fansubs both help and hurt the industry.
I know Japan is pretty into the 3DTV craze. Besides Engadget Japan reporting about it, shows like Ika Musume parody them. The new Last Exile series is supposed to be specially made for 3DTVs... So I can see how he would think 3D might replace regular animation. Although I think 3D anime would be crap, IMO.
It's not some random MAL user either, he's been designated a News Translator and Moderator. The original post seems OK, it's all the comments afterward that are biased.

As far as I could tell, 3D hasn't really come near replacing 2D animation, at least in Japan. For the past decade or more they have been using 2D on top of CG generated backgrounds or objects when animating a scene in 2D is extremely complicated because the way the camera has to pan, or the way a giant robot moves about.
Off the top of my head, Appleseed is the only 3D anime I can think of. As it's all cell shaded CG. I suppose FF7 Advent Children as well. That's full CG. Not sure about the artwork being in full Anime style however.

Anime being made in 3D is mad expensive and usually won't be as good unless they have good funding... I think we can leave the 3D stuff to Pixar.

I agree with everything on this list. My main points I always make regarding loss of money in the anime market is the fact that they never pick anything good to release on dvd. If something good is selected for release you can almost kiss bluray as an option goodbye.

well for the 3d part, I sort of agree. For example, Galerion Rions was an okay CG movie but I sort of would have liked it better as a 2d animation. In my opinion, there is no real reason to use 3D when you've already got a thriving 2d market.

In my opinion anime in 3d is like a fish out of water, or rather a fat kid with water wings floating aimlessly in the ocean while the shark named Entrophe drools behind him. Silly metaphors aside, 3d anime just looks awkward even though it works for some.
Even in games. We have anime style based games that have embraced 3d but everytime there are talk topics or cinematics they always revert back to our beloved 2d style anime. There are just so many things in 2d that are unachievable with 3d.
