Amagami

I haven't seen Amagami, nor do I know much about it. I'm posting this because I've been trying to decide whether I should watch it and I'd like to know what people who have seen it have to say. There are a lot of anime on my list that I either need to finish, get caught up on, or really want to watch. Basically, I just wanna know if it is worth my time.


Before anyone decides that this belongs in the request section I'm gonna shut that down. This thread is about discussing whether or not Amagami is worth watching.

Coming from a dude who at first didnt want anything, I mean anything to do with this anime, I would say go for it. The series has 6 arcs, one for each girl shown in a time frame of 4 episodes each, 2 more in Amagami SS+. Out pf the six girls, only two of them caught my interest, those being the first arc, Morishima Haruka's and the last arc, Ayatsuji Tsukasa.

Kaimax should be able to give more insight about this.

As far as romance animes and animes based off games go, I think it's safe to say that Amagami is top tier.

The art & animation is solid, the cast is great, and the music will make you feel all nice and mushy inside. (All three OP's are great- 2 for the first season and another for the sequel airing now).

What really set Amagami apart was the omnibus format. By dividing up the series into six separate mini-arcs, each wholly devoted to one girl's route, the show avoided favouring the "main" girl and gave every girl (except one, but that got fixed in the sequel) a proper end. And many would argue that- with each girl only getting four episodes for their story- we get a condensed version that concentrates on all the good parts, while slicing out any unnecessary bits; keep the meat, cut the fat.

I say that it's definitely worth checking out, at least.

If you are so hard-pressed for time, I find it hard to recommend Amagami to you. Unless you somehow wind up liking all the girls, you will waste some time watching certain arcs. The trouble is, you really won't know for sure which girls you like until after their arcs are over. And I can't imagine you liking more than three of the girls, so half the season would be a waste to watch.

I watched Amagami season one, and it didn't disappoint me at all. Even though I only have 3 favourite girls, I personally think it's better to watch the whole season anyway.

Well, at least if you do know who your favourite girls are, check out their arcs.

I watched it where he got with the first 2 girls. Got bored after that. Either that or I fell asleep

Either way, it's a good watch.

Honestly, I'm not really that hard-pressed for time. For reasons that are completely irrelevant to the conversation, I actually have too much time on my hands. I'm a strange person, so I'm fascinated by the day-to-day events of the Republican GOP. The candidates are all terrible people, but it entertains me. My main problem with keeping up with new anime and committing to older anime is that I believe time management is unreliable.

Unless I've miscalculated, I could marathon Amagami, including all the OVAs and shit, and knock that shit out in less than a day... even if I include eating and bathroom breaks.

Then I say do it.
You can just skip the arc if you want.
That's what I did on Sae's and Rihoko's, but I ended up watching them anyway so I know what's going on..

It might be just me, but the idea of marathoning Amagami churns my stomach. But if you're not as pressed for time as I thought, then I guess I can recommend Amagami to you.
