Anyone think this is a good plot line to extend bleach?

I was watching bleach episodes yesterday and I got to thinking. We have all heard at one point or another that Ichigo's reiatsu is at a captain's level and his zanpaktou Zangetsu is clearly capable of matching most captain's aside from the most powerful such as Ukitake, Shunsui, and Captain Commander Yammamoto. Anyway I got to thinking that a good plot line to keep the bleach series going would be to promote Ichigo to captain of one of the squads which were left vacant by Aizen, Gin, or Tousen. This is just speculation but something just tells me the final fight is of course gonna be between Aizen and Ichigo.

The one thing I'm unsure about is how that would happen as Ichigo is a live human and Soul Society is a spirit world set aside for the dearly departed. I guess he could kill Aizen but have to sacrifice his life for it. But that also poses another problem as a part of Ichigo is a hollow. Anyone think this is a good way to extend the series. I really think that this or something close to it could really give a breath of fresh air to Bleach or it could even be made into a spinoff for the series.

Sorry to point it out but this sort of thing has been touch upon by countless fanfics and such around the internet.

IMO I doubt Kubo Tite will be able to bring a new breath of fresh air into the plot seeing how he turns most of his established plots, strength levels and characters to be quite pointless.

The characters and plot for Bleach are pointless?. What universe have you been living in, I'll admit that some of the fillers were kinda stupid especially the bount arc in my opinion but that hardly justifies saying the characters and plot for the series as a whole is pointless.

I don't claim they're pointless by default, Kubo gradually makes them so. At certain points Ichigo will appear as probably the strongest in the bunch, then one fight later he gets his ass handed to him, and there's been so many Deus Ex Machinas that have saved his ass that I find that Kubo just destroyed the character's credibility. The thing that bothered me most is the fact that the Espada were supposed to be this big bad bunch that could easily hand the shinigami's ass to them, yet Kubo systematically let them be picked off. Fight by fight they began losing credibility and meaning, some of them went down in a manner that I almost was inclined to believe it was a joke. By the time Barragan went down it almost seemed like the entire Espada Arc had been an attempt to lengthen the series, besides the fact of the whole kidnapped Inoue thing which didn't really work out either.

Don't take it the wrong way I've been following Bleach for a long time now, and I've enjoyed it. But that's just my opinion on it, as a fan I feel it's also needed to point out the flaws Kubo seems to be making more and more. The characters just no longer have as much meaning as they did at the start. In a way it seems as if Kubo is running out of inspirational juice, hell there's been debate about him recycling old plot ideas ever since the start of the Arrancar Arc.

I can kinda agree with your statements. I was pissed when Soifon unleashed her bankai Jakuho Raikoben and it was totally wrong for her character. She is an assasin and so her bankai should have reflected that nature. They even drew her calling attention to it that she didn't like her bankai because it wasn't suited for a special forces captain. I still think that making Ichigo a captain is a good idea. It would make a good extension and it doesn't have to be right away. He could make Ichigo a captain for the end of the series as a way to wrap it up and then take his time working on material for it. Plus I think its the least Soul Society can do to repay him for his efforts. I mean he's pulled their ass outta the fire several times and he hasn't gotten jack squat in return except for a shinigami substitute badge and a sorry excuse of a title of "substitute" shinigami when he's several times stronger than most captains after he finds his bankai and more than a match for a vice-captain with only his shikai. I mean he beat Zaraki with only his shikai for crying out loud but then again Zaraki can't access his Shikai so its not really a fair fight!!!

It's a rocket launcher... WTF?! Sorry I'm still trying to figure out what the fuck Kubo was thinking when he decided that would be a good idea. So I'm going to remain acting like it never happened.

Anyway I'd have to say Soul Society wouldn't make Ichigo a captain since for some reason they still cling on to their self-indulgent sense of pride, as in "lol you're human there's no way you'd ever be allowed to join our cool little club, now please go defeat the villain as we expect you to without actually saying it".

I might have this wrong but isn't soul society where people go when they die. Can people actually be born in Soul Society since its really just a spirit world. So as far as ichigo being human I can't see how that would matter since almost everyone else would have been human at one point before they died and came to Soul Society. Aren't all shinigami just people who have died in living realms and crossed over to soul society and learned how to access their reiatsu? I mean I looked up soul society on wikipedia and thats what it says soul society is an afterlife realm and I remember thats what Rukia explained it to be when she was training Ichigo
