Series Summary
The story begins in a futuristic domed city called Romdo, built to protect its citizens after a global ecological disaster. In this utopia, humans and androids (AutoReivs) coexist with each other peacefully under a total management system. A series of murders committed by berserk robots (infected with the Cogito virus) starts to jeopardize the delicate balance of the social order. Behind the scenes, the government is conducting secret experiments on a mysterious humanoid lifeform called Proxy, which is believed to hold the key to the survival of mankind.
Re-l Mayer is assigned to investigate some of the murders with her AutoReiv partner Iggy. She encounters a Cogito-infected AutoReiv and a fast and flexible monster. She later learns that the monster was a Proxy, the same sort of creature as another main character who normally assumes the guise of a immigrant named Vincent Law. After being hunted down, Vincent leaves Romdo, and Re-l tags along to discover the truth behind the Proxies and the domes.

Really... That 'master list' is weak... The Ergo Proxy thread was a question whether or not the OP should keep watching the series... This show... This show can't be described as the best because if it was best you'd have to be comparing it to something worse and this show... Its criminal to compare it to others. It trancends your mind!
As great as this show was I'll admit I have my moments of disloyalty... Some parts were just too chit-chatty for me and some were just... what? Like the gameshow: They didn't explain that in the slightest. You can argue that there was that THIRTY SECOND SCENE where they were talking about it outside the gameshow but really... No explanation. Also the disney land thing was pointless...
...but besides that it was the perfect show. It answered my prayers. I said "Rei shure is a bitch. I wish they'd do something about it" and then that one scene where she is called a selfish little bitch and all that I fucking smirked like motherfucker. Even that lovable loli andriod I was BEGGING for her to die but the moment she started chanting "bits by bits" I was looking up hentai on her :)
I'll have to admit I would have expected plenty of people to know about this show and make a thread about it but no... Really either you people I have no idea what... You all seem like sane (anime related) folk' but maybe your Shingu watching FREAKS! ...sorry I get very emotional about Ergo Proxy...
If you haven't seen it, watch it. If you've seen it and didn't like it, watch it again. If you started it and didn't finish, finish it. I cannot think of a better anime. It is artistic... It is well casted (good voice acting both Jap. and Dub.)... The plot is very interesting and unfolds in a unique way... The animation is very good for the show... ITS REAL! No fucking super powered mother fuckers! Main character gets his assed kick and shit! When I say 'super powered' I mean "Ichino your powers are special! They can defeat any other persons powers in the world!" This show even has the best intro. It spoils nothing about the show AT ALL. I MEAN AT ALL! Its full to burst but holds no information that could make you think anything AT ALL! Also the music is bad ass.
I suppose you could see me as an apocalyte (probably using this in the wrong context) of Ergo Proxy. Whenever people talk about anime I bring it up and I have so much to talk about it being beyond the best. I actually have a line prepared for when I say its the best which I won't type but if someone has vent I'll gladly tell them what it is and DIGRESION! (probably using this in the wrong context as well)

It's alright, i wouldn't call it consistent though, sometimes it's really good and the next it's boring as shit.

The part with him in the library with the old man? I skipped all of that. The show has a lot of stuff that is to explain the Proxies but I didn't really care about that.
I suppose the overall purpose of this thread, for me anyways, is to get people who haven't seen this show to watch it. I was really hurt in that "Top 3 Animes" thread when after checking over five pages didn't see a single mention of Ergo Proxy... That must be rectified.

First, I'd say that you make some nice presentations but either way, there already exist a thread for this series. It really helps by using the advanced search function or just by checking out the sticky'd Master List of Anime Threads.

about this series, it's mind blowing! I've seen it a couple of years back and whenever I'd recall certain events, I'd still get goosebumps out of it. Radiohead's "Paranoid Android" was even used as its ED theme which blended perfectly with the series' dark and barren nature. It sure gets boring at times but for those who love to flex with their brain muscles, a much recommended series nonetheless.

Personally I don't typically revive threads. I don't play God. If a thread has over two pages shure I will but since that more or less belonged in General I decided to make a new one.
...but about the series. I was really annoyed with the middle of the ending. I really thought they pulled that new proxy out of their ass. The Rei look-alike one? I mean really. I haven't seen the show in a while but I don't recall them really giving that much of an explanation (proxy explanation) about it until the last episode. I know that crazy scientist talked about her but never as her being a proxy. That really ruined the ending for me... As for the fight sequence. I more or less skipped that. I could see another season (to bad they never did) about them rebuilding the wastes.

Unfortunately, I will be locking this particular thread since HermitIV has pointed out that a previous identical topic exists.
It is not about playing God or reviving threads for no good reason. I believe it is about giving the original thread starter some respect for his/her effort. Learning how to grab an opportunity can be an important skill in the virtual world too, which applies when creating threads.
