Evangelion Series (Help me with the names) AND A VIDEO

I was sick once.. Very long ago... In my sickness I rented a shitload of anime. On eof them was a series of something that resembled Evangelion very much so... It was really good but over time I never checked up on it further and forgot the name of it. Now I find out there are multiple series of Evangelion...?
Even if it wasn't Evangelion you guys might know what it is...
Its like Japan is the only country left in the world. A women kidnaps a boy and brings him outside of this dome where the rest of the world is and he relizes all the things he thought were wrong and then the 'angels' from Evangelion attack somewhere and he can pilot a mecha so he kills them.
The point of this thread is really just to help me out with all the different series of Evangelion (Be there anymore than the original with the shitty shitty ending) but if you know the name of the show I mentioned please tell meh. Thanks.

Does anyone know of an Evangelion video where Asuka (Girl in the red suit) fights all these other mechas but the other mechas are edited to have Ronald McDonalds face and instead of like rockets she fires frenchfries and shit at them. Its so hilarious, anyone got a link to it?

There aren't a lot of Evangelion series. There's just the anime series, a recap thing called Death and Rebirth, and the movie, The End of Evangelion. That's it.
The girl in red is Asuka, not Rei. I don't think I've ever seen the video you're talking about, so I don't have a link to it.
I think (but am not positive) that the series you are talking about is called RahXephon. I've never seen it, but I've heard that it is a Evangelion clone and that people live in a dome, or something like that.

You're definitely talking about RahXephon, and while similar to Evangelion, the anime was produced by a different animation studio Bones, not by Gainax. RahXephon works on a concept of music and how singing can "retune" the world. Similar to the Instrumentality Project, but not quite the same and less psychology to think about while watching the series.

It is Rahxephon (Echo?). Just thought I would comment since it's my favorite series. :P
I think it had almost an equal amount of psychology. It was just directed better conveying its meaning clearly and enough symbolism to keep you on track (Which there are shit loads).

It`s an remake of the original Eva-Serie. Im really looking forward to the other 3 Movies.

They are veeery similar, no doubt there. However, there's enough differences and uniqueness about the two that separates the two. There's even a relative huge gap in airing times (seven years, 1995 and 2002) to justify that it isn't some NGE clone.
@Persondude: Rahxephon was more philosophical and had more symbolism while NGE was more psychological and controversy-involved. At the very least, the two series had different mindsets in achieving the same thing. (Kind of... but not quite.)

really puts me off because you might as well have two nations fight each other than two races of the same type..the blue blood, the memory loss crap...pretty pointless if you look at the broad point that its just two ppls fighting each other just like all across history...having another race seems like a desperate attempt at making it unique.

Sorry, but RahXephon is, if not a clone, DEFINITELY heavily inspired by Evangelion, so much that I couldn't even make it past episode 5, I felt that watching it was an insult to Evangelion. It even has that freaking "drop-in-water" scene!!!The site I link to overthinks some stuff, but he does have some really good points as well, such as this:

Also, if you REALLY want to delve into hating RahXephon for "copying", then you must also say NGE is in the "wrong" for copying the anime which RahXephon was influenced from at a greater degree.

I think that in its effort to be purely artistic entertainment, RahXephon knowingly pays homage to both Megazone 23 and Evangelion in the same way Evangelion re-uses the concept of a boy piloting his father's giant robot that was used 20 years before in Mobile Suit Gundam, which itself borrowed the idea from even older shows like Tetsujin 28 and Mazinger.

It's still backing me up if you read the bold. The quote is only there to support me saying that Eva copied too meaning if you're going to hate on RahXephon simply becaues it's similar to Eva, then you must look at the bigger picture and see that Eva isn't without its faults as well.
