FUNimation has officially dropped its copyright infringement lawsuit against an unidentified individual that downloaded One Piece episode 481 via Bit Torrent without authorization. On January 24, 2011, FUNimation filed suit against 1,337 unidentified individuals accused of downloading One Piece episode 481 without authorization. On February 10, 2011, Senior US District Judge Royal Furgeson declared that FUNimation could not collectively sue all 1,337 individuals. FUNimation immediately dropped 1,336 defendants from the lawsuit. On March 18, 2011, FUNimation dropped its suit against the lone remaining individual but emphasized its legal right to re-file the suit against any of the original defendants.
Wow suing 1337 users(i get the leet pun)for One Piece(which is k-on level to me).. *look a utorrent page with 20 anime torrents...* meh behind 7 proxy.
actually alot of ISP's will aid company's with tracking these people down.. especially if they them selfs provide some of the things/episodes/movies that pp; are torrenting etc...i find it funny because Pirate bay is based in Sweeden were the have no laws against it and so many ppl have tried to sue them.
http://thepiratebay.org/legal <----- that is the list of Co. that have threathned them read some they are funny :)
It seems ridiculous to sue that many people over 1 single episode. It feels more like they're doing it as scare tactics more than actually trying to make any money back. That's what it feels like a lot of businesses are doing. Sue the whole damn world just to scare people into buying it.
There is a huge demand out there and the business of distributing anime to markets outside of Japan just simply can't keep up and seems to refuse to even try. That's the way feels, anyway.
