lately there seems to be a lot anime adaptation of games and light novel, so do you prefer watch the anime adaptation first, or try to read the novel, or play the game first? since a lot of adaptation tend to fail delivers the original epicness.
this poll will help me decide to read "Remembrances of a Certain Pilot" or watch the movie adoptee first, any suggestion is welcomed
The key word here is "adaptation". Any adaptation will have a couple of things changed. In the case of a VN like School Days, they only covered one of the possible endings of the VN. Personally I like to read the original content before looking into any adaptations and spin-offs especially in the case of VN's.
Unless I'm unaware of the existence of the source of which the Anime is adapted from, I almost always prefer the source. There are some equal grounds though. Steins;Gate for example. I'm playing the visual novel on my itouch and I've already seen the Anime beforehand. So far, I'm split between them. Oh, I can say that I did enjoy the light novel of Welcome to the NHK! more than the Anime, although the Anime contained an event that I thought sustained the series on an epic proportion.
If I didn't know that the anime came from a VN, I would probably just watch it first. Buts its the opposite if I knew that it is from a VN and it has a chance of being translated.
Best recent example of something that killed the source, Majikoi. I don't think Majikoi can be Majikoi without those 30 minute H-scenes..., God, Yamato must've let loose like 10 times in the first Yukie one.
