Agreed, yes? I only watched a couple episodes of .hack//roots but I haaaaaaaaaaaated it with a burning passion. When I saw it on Cartoon Network I fucking torn up the room and fuckin bleed out my eyes then it came on at 4am and I was like "da fuck?"
.hack//roots ruined the series. If it hadn't been so horrible I'm sure they would have made another season after it. MOAR .HACK!
I can't remember the music in .hack//roots all that well which is bad. The music from .hack//sign left an imprint on me and pretty much introduced me to foreign music. .hack was a series which IMO had the best soundtrack eva EVA

It is also funny that you mention SIGN getting you into foreign music since it had English vocals, which really shouldn't be all that foreign to anybody. Personally, I have a hard time deciding which has a better soundtrack. SIGN had very strong vocal pieces combined with some rather forgettable little BG pieces, and the ROOTS soundtrack was better all-around though it's vocal pieces were weaker.

Pretty sucky characters and char development compared to .hack//sign, but it wasn't so bad that I couldn't watch through it all.
