Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei 1

.....seriously if the last 4 remaining episodes will be like this then this ova series is a clear failure....

hopefully the can again catch the good old insane Higurashi no Naku Koro ni spirit, but unless they don´t then this is even worst then Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai

You didn't watch the preview of ep 2, nor did you took the slightest interest of what would be in the third season.

As the subs finally came, I just watched it and enjoyed it as what it was: the fanservice episode, quite typical of OVAs. I'm really pleased to see Hinamizawa again, second episode won't come fast enough.

Not knowing the characters would have probably made this a forgettable, generic bonus material. Since I did know them however and hold their antics and moeness level (girls) in high regard I was able to enjoy this.
The fact that a lot of time passed since watching the last eps that were able to engross me and make me take them seriously (season 1) also helped since this didn't seem that blasphemous.

The next OAVs are indeed supposed to be serious and story-driven but since the series is all but over at this point I don't care that much.

I really liked it. I laughed all the way through, and I got a boner. That's a win in my book.

But like Das (is that a name change I see?) said, I knew who the characters were, and enough time had passed so that I wasn't expecting anything scary or intriguing. It was just fun to watch the characters that I love doing stuff. Then again, I also went into it knowing that it was a silly episode.

I'm not sure what can be done with the plot, but I do know the OAV that came out a while ago, the Cat Killing chapter, I think, didn't have anything to do with the original plot, but it was still interesting and a joy to watch. If nothing else, the OAVs will give me a taste of Higurashi before Umineko comes out. When is that supposed to come out, anyway?

Why? If you knew it was meant to be funny, then why did you cry? Were you disappointed that it was funny? Was it not funny enough?

I guess he cried because he wasn´t expecting a fan service episode, guess he expected an episode with the atmosphere like the season of Higurashi.

Why is anyone surprised about this? I mean, this is how Higurashi has always been. It starts out silly, then gets very serious very quickly. From what I've read, the remaining OVA's will be as serious as you'd expect from Higurashi.

but this was quite TOO silly even if it was only the beginning episode...it just it just made the whole story ridiculous with the swimmers in the pool and stuff like this

That's like saying that an episode of Family Guy is too ridiculous.

The moment a guy said something about magical briefs, everyone should have known that nothing was going to be serious in the episode.
