Kara no Kyoukai 7: Satsujin Kousatsu (Part 2)

If there is a word that properly describes my feelings after concluding the, quite possibly, best anime I have seen thus far ... I fail to recollect it.
It wasn't the best of the 7 (beating Paradox Spiral seemed near-impossible), nor was it the most action packed but it certainly did it's job (for the most part) without the hectic and rushed feeling that accompanied part 6 and left a really big hole in my heart ... which is both good and bad.

A wall of text would be pointless atm since this topic is likely to see little traffic but it anyone ever feels like discussing the movie or the series as a whole without bothering with spoilers, I'll be here.

Short, subjective impressions:

- Slow, dark and gory - all what I came to love about KnK and quite similar to the 1st and 3rd movie.
- Though few are likely to agree with me, I didn't like the happy ending. It's just felt ... hollow. For a series like this a one, final, grandiose emotional charge (as in either Shiki or Kokuto dying) would seem far more appropriate.
- Kokuto came off more irritating than usual. Whatever the reasoning behind it, saying "I won't forgive you if you kill the insane, cannibalistic murderer" must be the stupidest thing ever that nearly got Shiki killed. The knife to the face was the least he deserved. That abnormal kindness of his makes him seem as deranged as all those psycho killers.
- Lio didn't perhaps prove the most appropriate final villain (and quite revolting at times) but he was still unique and interesting enough (the bad guys and girls really seemed to overshadow the main cast throughout all the movies). Quite weird though that he's said to be Shiki's first kill. Try as I might I cannot view him as more 'human' than Araya whom she wasted 2 movies ago.
- Never before in my anime experience have I hated steam as much ...


PS/ There seems to be an epilogue ova in store yet but it's likely gonna be a short explanation for all the loose ends with little of the KnK epicness as we came to know it. Still better than nothing though.

It got everything. It's perfect. I couldn't say anything serious right now since I'm still speechless after basking in the awesomeness of this movie. It's freaking epic. *dies*

edit : I agree with you, Kokuto is very annoying this ep with his preachings. But at least he was being a man by coming to stop Shiki from killing Lio, although he failed hard. Stupid, but at least he's trying.

It was pretty damn good, I thought it was progressing pretty slow in the middle.


I believe this movie has protrayed and manipulated the relationship between Kokuto and Ryougi so perfectly, even though the action isnt surpassing the 5th, but this movie has certainly touched my heart with all the building up and end it with that scene i mentioned TT__TT.

You're scary. Truth be told, were Shiki (or Azaka) aware he stole Kokutou's first(?) kiss, Lio would have died far more painfully ^_^ Come to think of it, Azaka got a little bit ass-fucked with how the story progressed. I really liked her and wished her both more screen time and a more satisfying conclusion.

Too bad it was wasted. All the tears, flashbacks music and shit only for him to crawl back 5 minutes later. I just can't stop thinking that with the way the movie progressed, it would have been a better idea to leave Koktou dead and allow Shiki to find her peace through different means (not that it could have been avoided since they still had the novel to adhere to). Such it was the conclusion felt a tiny bit forced and out of tune with the rest of the movie, especially with Shiki's final words (after the credits) sounding as if being spoken by a completely different character. Minor complaint though since I still enjoyed the movie very, very much.


PS/ I don't think there's any need to bother with spoilers here. If someone visits episode discussion without watching for himself, the potential spoilers serve him right for being silly.

Honestly deep down I do feel that way lol.

But the first time I see it, I didnt knew that hokuto was alive, I thought he was dead for sure, the effect was great and it contributes alot to that final dissection scene, I fail to find words other then EPIC for that scene,I was stunned, my eye were wet and almost crying.

But after that so epic final scene, the directors decided to bring him back and give a happy ending I guess lol. If I were to watch the movie again, Im pretty sure I woulnt be able to revive that same feeling I felt at that moment again.

Meh, my anger and excitement built up when he tore off her kimono, but then it changed to a huge WTF moment when he just drooooooled. With this and the yaoi scene, he's officially gay in my book. Definitely not last villain material. His presentation as a psycho character seems forced to me, I doubt he would be remembered long without the drool scene.

And yea, need more Azaka.

but, happy ending seems a lil' strange to KnK..

this movie was 10x more epic on big screen

now imagine that little dissection scene but 1000x bigger with the best surround system for a japanese movie theater and in raw

especially the sakura scene after kokuto gets after the hospital

The final movie... just watched it a few hours ago, I was like WOW. Although, yep Paradox Spiral is the best one (for me as well), this one holds a special place behind it. Happy ending is good, I enjoyed it up to the last minute ^_^

BTW, Shiki's blushes are so cute, in a mature cute type of way.

@EmiyaKiritsugu: Who wouldn't like that :) at least an epilogue part about Mana would be great ^_^
