The story centres around a young man, simply called the 'Medicine Seller' who travels the country, and searching for and destroying Mononokes or unnatural spirits who linger in reality due to some forgotton regret. The Medicine Seller uses his knowledge of the supernatural to fend off the mononoke until he can learn the spirit's shape (Katachi), truth (Makoto) and reasoning (Kotowari). Only then can he unsheathe his sword and exorcise the demon.
The anime is not a continuous storyline, but rather, 4 different stories that each centre the Medicine Seller trying to destroy various Mononoke.
Right lads, this is defefinitely one I recommend. This has
the prettiest art I have ever seen. Some scenes literally put shivers down my spine. Though the storyline can be a bit disorientating at times, it's still intriguing, creepy and keep
I'd also strongely recommend the original arc from Ayakashi - Japanese Horror Stories, which Mononoke was based off of. It's called Bakeneko and is the last three episodes of the anime Ayakashi (which has three seperate Arcs of different storylines and art-styles).
