I seriously thought about it, I mean there was no real proof that he was madara, also, every character was always saying things like "the man in the mask that we believe is uchiha madara", that was the mangaka talking I think.

Izuna is a good option I think, I mean "The man behind the mask" does look old, I think it may be uchiha madara himself or at least part of him, I mean the resurrected madara knew who nagato was.
