This arc has great momentum. I'm also following Bleach, think of it as a sort of Stockholm Syndrome, and that dedicates whole chapters to one person talking about their clothes or something like that. This war in One Piece has developed in leaps and bounds each chapter.
Crocodile saving Ace was a surprise, and probably related to this "secret" that Ivankov knows about him. Oda really seems to be building Crocodile up for something. Since he implied that the next crewmate will be an old enemy, it seems like him joining is at least a possibility. Still, I don't really think he'll fit into the group dynamic of the Straw Hats so I doubt he'll actually be the next crew member.

As much as I'd love to see Mr. 0 get more screen time, I don't think he'd really fit in with the Straw Hats. I can see Hancock joining... if it had to be a villain, I'd say Buggy. Although I wouldn't like that either.

Teclo: could you imagine this arc if Oda were to dedicate every chapter to a single character? With Bleach it's rather normal since Kubo crops down the fighting time to build up some long-ass explanations (not good, but not too bad either).
As for a new ally, it's almost impossible for someone from Shichibukai (or 7 Gods, w/e) to fit into the Strawhat group... maybe Hancock, but she's not an old enemy, right?

Seems like this arc is gonna show Luffy how pitiful he is compared to the world of the strongest that he's in right now.. Our hero is just too confident, it'll be a good lesson for him to know that he can't save anyone, not his crews, not his brother, not his grandpa (maybe?) in his current state

Yeah, off the top of my head, the last enemy Luffy dominated was Bellamy - back in the the Jaya Arc. He had a more usual shounen struggle against Enel but since then he's been royally fucked by everyone he's taken on apart from Blueno (even Foxy went to town on him). He had to be carried away after fighting Lucci and since then has been defeated by Aokiji, various Pacifistas, Kuma, Kizaru and Sentoumaru. He only managed to scrape a win against the Boa sisters because that fight was used to show his accidental use of the King's Haki. As I said, the struggle against Enel and Foxy was more the usual sort of shounen struggle but almost every single fight against a significant foe since that point has left Luffy defeated.

When I thought about old foe's that have recently shown up. I thought of MR.3.
Reasons being that Mr.3 does not have a grudge that I know of against anyone in the strawhat crew. And yeah he is a ecentric person, but who on Luffy's crew is not ecentric.
Anyway good chapter, looking forward to seeing what happens next.

It'll not be Crocodile for sure.. He's way too strong to be one of Luffy's crew, and he have such a high self-pride for that..
I actually believe it's gonna be Mr.2.. After all that friendship bond scene in the Impel Down Arc.. Do you honestly believe Luffy will just happily ignore him (after this arc is done) and continue his journey leaving him behind like that?.. Nope, he will never do that.. That's why he's our hero in this series..

I also think Bon Clay stands a good chance at being the next crew member. He and Luffy really bonded.
Speaking of bonds, let's not forget another former enemy that the entire crew bonded with before they were separated - Hachi, the fishman. The crew still needs to go to Fishman Island, and he may lead them there. He may even stick with them during the Fishman Island arc and decide to stay afterwards.
