Punchline delivery in Comedy anime.

The comedy genre of anime has been hit and miss with me. There's some I liked, some I didn't like, and some yet to be watched. But I couldn't help but notice this situation happening in a lot of comedy anime:
Character A and B are having random conversation about getting a women to like them
A comes up with logical idea
B comes up with illigical idea
-Awkward pause-
B says something along the lines of 'yeah my idea was stupid'.
A almost IMMEDIATELY agrees it was stupid.
If that's a vague example, allow me to explain. Awkward pause, retortion, immediate agreement. Am I the only one who sees this as...routine? Or does this happen in Japanese comedy in general?

Something told me that there was a term in the back of my head...
