Rant on Negima

Ken Akamatsu's Mahou Sensei Negima is one of the best shonen mangas I've ever read, far better than Naruto, Bleach, One Piece and every other manga to the point I've read through the series thrice. But what really irks me is the poor treatment it gets in anime adaptions. The first adaption was ok, but it really didn't get into the meat of the series, just stopping at the Kyoto arc where things were just starting to become an epic shonen story. Sure, there is that epic BGM "Magical Battle" but it just doesn't give the manga any credit. Negima!? is just a crappy comedy show obsessed with chupacabras. I won't even talk about Negima!!. Then we finally the the Ala Alba Shirotsuki Tsubasa arc and that only touched upon the first two chapters (nothing special) and skipped the part where Negi gets the Magia Erebea skill and instead decides to waste an episode on Yue which I think is filler by manga standards.

Instead of focusing on the epic battles and plot (ie, Mahora Festival/Tournament arc and Negi vs Rakan) they just go for the bathing scenes and that weak Yue episode.

And when everything is finally over we get that shitty movie that was only 40 minutes long and tells us jack shit about the manga. It doesn't tell us anything about Negi's father, Fate dies for no apparent reason, the animation is terrible for a 2011 anime and it has no plot whatsoever. Also we see Negi in his SSJ3 form for about two minutes where he moves slower than me on a bicycle doing nothing at all except float. And then there's those useless monologues from characters trying to make us care except that's not the reason why we even bother to watch the movie.

Oh and to fill in the remaining 55 minutes after that cheap slideshow like intro, they throw in that crappy "you only have one day left to make a pactio and solve everything with a deus ex machina that's completely pulled from the ass like the entire plot of the movie" still with lame slow animation. And you know what? Nagi's face appears for a full 5 frames in the entire movie. FIVE FRAMES.


After watching that horrible movie that I must say is probably even worse than the Eragon movie and DB Evolution, I feel disappointment and rage.

But seriously, the movie sucks and is a complete waste of time. Don't watch it because it has nothing to do with the main plot and doesn't give closure to anything. Also don't expect to see action because half of the scenes in the movie are QUALITY.

Mana, you can't make a pair of Desert Eagles fire with the rate of fire and sound of a minigun.

Also the voice acting was bad, none of the characters sound like they way they are suppose to.




Looking forward to the next installment of Super Robot Wars OG, hoping that it will at least be good as Inspectors...

I happy this shit got ended. Was a good mango until the other world arc long winded bullshit and negi heart torn battles with i forgot the nigga name and Asuna being the fallen princess and the copycat bullshit.. meh hater gonna hate.

And the manga is on its way to end horribly too.

Nagi's "I'll be waiting" where, and I want more nigga Rakan. Fuck man, Akamatsu was on his way to create the greatest shounen ever, and he just had to pull the low tier corny crap again.

The Negima!? anime was strange but then again it was done by Shaft. And lets not get started on the pointless OVA's. What so hard about making a anime that's canon?

Im reading the manga, but im only up to volume 16, still have a long way to go.

The OVAs were also done by shaft but they sucked. It felt like the screen was running at 12 fps.

I agree with you, but one thing I found Negima!? funny as hell even if it had next to nonething to do with the manga XD

Here's hoping some decent anime studio will make an entire anime series out of the Magic World arc, and go straight into the manga ending.

i watched five minutes of one of the OVAs. never again. but then i saw an english dub and had to see. i will never recover. :'C -huddles with manga- i'll finish it eventually. D:

Negima ends next week. So disappointed :(
