I see your point and share it to some degree. Still - I'd blame the inappropriate series length for everything. Believe it or not but I actually loved many of those 'useless' episodes with nothing major happening and find them essential to creating the unique mood of the show.
I never wanted Xam'd to become a fast-paced, action-filled, easily digestible title and to my great joy - it never did. I think that if the series were a little bit longer, the more major events could have been properly prepared and executed making it even better. I loved it nonetheless though 8)
Yeah, I went in expecting something similar to Eureka Seven and that's mostly what I got from the series. Like you said, the series would've benefited from at least a few more episodes to better space the story. It sounds like I'm really hating on the show and Bones in general but I'm going through a lower phase of anime enjoyment right now so I'm kinda intolerant of flaws. Also, I watched about 6 episodes of Gundam 00 before getting around to finishing Xam'd and find the former to be much more palatable to my current tastes.
