Sengoku Basara Ep. 1

i'm surprised that no one has mentioned this yet...

nutshell review:

while the animation sequences were definitely an eye candy for those with an appetite for action-oriented anime, the introduction was poorly presented with little or no foresight to plotline...

Actually I have mentioned this already. Since I felt that it wouldn't really garner too much attention, I just created a thread for it at the main (anime) section.

While I agree with the animation, I don't think it was "poorly introduced" considering that the series only have 12 episodes at its disposal. Speaking of "foresight to the plotline"; from what I've seen in the first episode, it's quite easy to tell that the story would pretty much center around Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura in a period of feudal Japan wherein every group/army are aiming to conquer and reign through all of its lands.

sorry for having not knowing that it's only going to be a 12 eps series...

though i still didn't really like the way it jumped right into the fights as it did(apparently...war broke out...as to why it did is of no greater significance or so it would seem)

granted that it's obviously going to center around date and sanada...a brief prologue concerning the chronic state of power struggle would fit nicely(a little history never hurts)...then again i guess i can't blame it for being summative since there's merely 12 eps overall and primarily action-oriented...

I'm not sure why but I didn't like this. There's not really a reason; it just didn't catch my interest. I might watch the next episode but I don't often change my opinion after a first impression is made.

Also, I read it'll be 13 episodes.
