(and the rest whom I didn't get to see much VA works)[/h]
I've seen the first episode in Raw earlier and it was in fact good (above average) in terms of overall animation quality. I'm compelled to follow this mainly for its action (duel/combat) sequences, which is just to be expected from a fighting game turned anime. Plot wise, it doesn't seem to be that intriguing but since I haven't even played the game before, I don't really have a clue on how it's gonna be. (the more reason to watch it)
I hope they will use all the character from the second game, because I want to see Oichi (VA: Noto Mamiko) .
Spoiler:
and they decided to use Nobunaga as the main antagonist, but I really hoped Hideyoshi Toyotomi will make an appearence, cause he's much more "antagonist" than Nobunaga.
Oh this is an anime is full of manliness. The first few scenes is exactly like in the game. I love the male bonding between Yukimura Sanada and Shingen Takeda.
Yeah Oichi is in the anime, kaimax.
Oh yeah 'Zoro' use 6 swords in this one intead of 3... :D
reaching orgasm at the slightest touch of hand... :D (more of it in the next episode...)
Spoiler:
Anyway, the episode delivered yet again with its stunning fight/action sequences which highlighted "ROUND 2" of the clash between Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura. The flashes of their respective blue and red "aura" sure was a mix of contrast and beauty. Unfortunately, they failed once more to settle their differences as Oda Nobunaga and crew totally stole the show from them.
Well, the series albeit historical in setting, still gives much emphasis on "supernaturally exaggerated" fights so a bit of "ludicrousness" is just to be expected. WTF! Horses capable of running vertically across the castles walls! It was rather cool nonetheless. The most ridiculous shit I've seen was probably Hojo's imperial general Ujimasa who was sporting a fuckin stale and sickly horse...!?
ed:
I should have removed this particular post the moment I moved it at the discussion thread...
By posting these video, I want to point out and remind people that Sengoku Basara's most selling point is the extreme and overrated fights.
And hope in the future people will not post "The fights are overrated comment". :D
Sengoku Basara
-Cross Wise-
Sengoku Basara 2
-Dive into Yourself-
Sengoku Basara 2: Heroes
-BLADE CHORD-
add this vid for a bonus
(it's a spoiler ,if you haven't played the game) Nemuri Hi no Hana
Oichi's Ending
There. :D
BTW, after looking at the old vids again, I think the anime is still a grade under the game "animated version".
Oda Nobunaga is the lord of the Darkness, Uesugi Kenshin is an elf, and Takeda Shingen and Yukimura are a manzai duo similar to Naruto's Lee and Gai. For anyone knowing japanese history this anime is a laugh. And a pretty good one too. I really can't concentrate at anything else than the characters, each minut I wonder "What will they make of the Mori Clan? What will they say about the Tosa families" and so on.
But I guess for someone not aware of the Sengoku period history this is also an enjoiable anime.
This worth watching? I haven't been watching this series because I didn't find the appeal in a samurai anime with a plot I couldn't figure out from the pictures and youtube vids. Seems like it's full of fighting but with no driving plot behind it.

Well, besides The fighting and all, the main plot till now is Eastern Lords made an Alliance to face Nobunaga Oda. This story is not attached to the real Sengoku Era War, since Hideyoshi Toyotomi is not around...>_>
Although Sengoku Basara isn't on my watch-list for Spring 2009, I would think it is a pretty popular title, at least among the fangirls. After all, I read that the Japanese are now churning out bags of rice with the male characters from Sengoku Basara being featured.

You wouldn't possibly know anything, unless of course you'd watch it for yourself.
Anyway, the series is moving along just fine I'd say, with its way [OVER THE TOP]3 (cubed / raised to the power of 3) fight sequences. Nothing worth making a fuss about but still is nice nonetheless.
Ep.6
Spoiler:
-Poor Asai Nagamasa... such a pitiful end for a noble warrior. Seems like "Love" can beat the hell out of "Justice" on any given day.
-Oichi, you bitch! (even so, I love you still)
-What was that gundam's name again? Wasn't it blown to smithereens rather easily... piece of crap.
Just to add more significance to this post; feel free to watch the PVs of the full length OP and ED songs.
the gundam ur reffering to was Honda Tatakatsu , but yeah nvr like him though even in game he's hard to use although given massive damage like an ogre and high tech support weaponry
They live and fight in the most surreal (EPIC) ways and perish in the most natural (clichéd) ways. And that's one thing that I love about this series. :D
Episode 9:
Spoiler:
The Eastern Alliance has crumbled and most of the significant clan/group leaders (if not all) except for Date Masamune, has been assassinated.
played the game and realized that this is a MUST watch for me. its been on the backburner lately as im trying to watch a load of anime atm but i need a good action anime to balance out with all the other generes i watch; (my friends always complaining about my animes lack fighting) hopes its a good series! ^_^
