Whats the meaning behind this panel?!?!?

So yea...i was reading KissxSister the other day and I ran upon this part in the chapter which made me confused.....

can anyone help me here by explaining what Hontoni means? Lol

Hontoni!? = Really!?

1st Hontoni !? = Really !?

2nd Hontoni !? = Is it true !?

it's supposed to be "hontou ni" "本当に"

that's why you get nothing from a translator

should i still give the meaning knowing that it was already translated ?

A perfect example of why translations should avoid leaving in Japanese words outside of honorifics.

Seriously, most translators that leave some Japanese are kind enough to put an asterisk and the translation in the margins.

But yeah, "really" is the general idea. I don't know Japanese, I've just heard it a million times in anime and follow the context.
