Why did Gideon mess with Scott's head? (SPOILERS)

I didn't get it. Why did Gideon mess with only that memory about beating up Simon Lee? Was he just being a dick or did it have any meaning?

Scott did that because he was full of himself, but gideon is still king douche nozzle.
