Just finished another series... Its Wolf's Rain this time had this on my computer for about 1/2 a year and finally got to watching it.
Heres the synopsis:
In some distant future, it's common knowledge that all wolves have been extinct for 200 years. However, it seems this is false as wolves have not disappeared but rather have taken human form. Kiba, a lone wolf, wanders into a city, trying to sniff out the Lunar Flowers that are supposed to lead whoever follows the scent to paradise. The source of the smell is Cheza, a girl who sleeps in what appears to be suspended animation in a lab. She and the wolves are drawn to each other, and Kiba hopes to find paradise once he finds the source of the scent of Lunar Flowers. However, once Kiba finds Cheza, she is kidnapped by a mysterious person called Darcia, and his search begins anew. Before he leaves the city, he meets 3 other wolves, Tsume, Hige and Toboe. All four wolves have very different personalities and ideas, and their friendliness towards each other is a little rough around the edges. However, they soon band together to continue to search for paradise.
Before anything else, make sure you watch the ovas together with the anime also known as episodes 27-30 they bring this amazing series to its true end.
Now on to my personal thoughts on this anime. I have no idea why I took so long to watch this but I'm glad I finally did. A very nice piece of work with lots of twists and turns along the way. The music is also great as it brings out the right emotions at the right time. It uses english songs instead of the traditional jap songs for the OP and ED and even some of it in the anime but it fits well so thats ok. Other than the songs though the music score is great as well.
As for the characters, while some of them are kinda typical there are some others that are rather interesting. The histories of all the main characters are given so you can understand them and their actions.
Definitely give this anime a try if you are looking for something to watch.
The OP and ED so you get a feel of the animation style and stuff.
For those who have watched the anime or read the manga or something. A small question...
Spoiler:
Who are the nobles? Some aliens or something who came to earth and got stuck? Thats what I got from the episode 25+ i think when they were explaining the shit but sounds weird so just thought I should ask.
Loved it even more on the second go about a year ago.
Superb music by Yoko Kanno combined with countless stand-alone jazzy pieces. The overall art/animation quality was also way above average. BONES took care of that.
Story-vise it was unique and perhaps a tad confusing at times but it was more on purpose than due to bad writing IMHO.
A solid amount of drama and tragedy (always a welcome addition), combined with a wide cast of various characters allowing easily finding one to root for.
Nice overall mood. Fairly dark and overwhelming but still filled with pride, passion and the desire to fulfill dreams, emanating from the main cast.
There are flaws to name but the overall package makes them insignificant.
Aged quite gracefully and still definitely worth watching.
I only watched this when it was on adult swim.
My impression of it then was that it was an ok show with a unique story, but still something I would stay up late to watch when it was on. Now that I'm more experienced - this show is just mediocre. On a scale of 1-10 I would probably rate it a 6 or 7.
i haven't really seen the whole anime. Found it ok, since it was one of the only animes i knew at the time (not now, though). Haven't really gotten around to watchingit...

I thought it was pretty unique and gave it an overall score of 9.
I'd admit, after I watched this show, I was depressed. Like, everyone fucking dies in the OVA, and the catch is that I still don't really know what this series is about due to poor exposition. Still, the animation was great, and character development was done very well.
