Hi, my name is wavedash, and I like hentai. I'm one of the new editors here at FAKKU.
You may know me as a scanlator who primarily works with Little White Butterflies, though it's unlikely you do (I'd be pleasantly surprised if I'm wrong). I've "only" been scanlating for almost a year, and have completed about 70 "chapters" of hentai (it depends on how you count them, since I primarily do doujins). Most of them were never uploaded to FAKKU, since many are... less than vanilla, to say the least. I also do some projects with Team Koinaka, which sates the desire for vanilla that builds up while I typeset futas and traps. You can find a list of my releases on my dumb website. Of course, I will continue and am continuing to scanlate even after joining FAKKU. At time of writing, I'm currently working on the Fatalpulse trap doujin (we got sniped, but that's never stopped us) and a chapter by Moketa from an Anthurium.
Localization is something that I am very passionate about, and that I am heavily invested in. I occasionally beta test visual novels for MangaGamer in my spare time; the last two games I worked on were eden* and Higurashi Chapter 1. Apparently I'm in the credits for eden*, though I haven't taken the time to check.
I might write more about this later, since my thoughts on localization are pretty long-winded, but basically, I highly value good localization, where "localization" involves both translation and its delivery. I believe that good localization translates not just words, but also style. And that's what I spend a lot of my time doing. Translating or replicating visual style, and not injecting my own style. I can't say for sure how much I succeed at this, but I do know that my pursuit of imitating different artists' styles without a graphics tablet (yet) has made me a font connoisseur, which I'm sure looks great on a resume.
In the absence of said thoughts on localization, the short answers to "Why are you working for FAKKU?" are "Student loans" and "The American post-secondary education system."
The best fonts are Buffalo Stance and CC Shout Out. This is not negotiable.
I used to watch a good amount of anime, 10+ shows per season, but I got burnt out on it a couple seasons ago, whichever season had the Grisaia adaptation. That was the single most disappointing season of anime I'd ever been subjected to. Since then, I haven't watched much. I think Saekano is the only post-Grisaia era show I've completed. Katou best girl. As for favorites, here's a few: AKB0048, ef - a tale of memories, Haibane Renmei, Mawaru Penguindrum, Sakura Trick, Seitokai no Ichizon, and Shinsekai yori.
I've only ever read like four manga. Currently reading Gakkou Gurashi and To-Love Ru: Darkness, and I can confidently say those are the two best manga I've ever read.
In terms of gaming, I used to play a lot of League of Legends, maining Anivia (pre-Froggen hipster) and Maokai (before everyone jungled him, fuck jungle Maokai). I got tired of that after a while, and started playing ARAM. After Riot released an actual ARAM queue, I exclusively played that. I kind of stopped since the recent changes to mana regen and Mark/Dash, though. While you can shut down a fed Ziggs or Nidalee by forcing a hard engage, there's no counterplay to fed bruisers on Howling Abyss.
Non-League games: Path of Exile (I even donated for a Tabula Rasa shirt and Chaos Orb keychain), Pokemon (Shoddy Battle and Pokemon Online), and The Binding of Isaac are some of my most-played games in the past few years. Currently trying to beat Divinity: Original Sin, but I went all in and gave three of my party members Glass Cannon and now I regret everything and I'm too lazy to fix it.
Oh, and Super Smash Bros. Melee. A lot of Melee.
