As I've mentioned previously, we're still figuring out the specifics on how doujin content will exist alongside our normal subscription content. In Japan, doujins (and doujinshi) are releases done by an individual artist or circle without the help of a larger publisher. Typically doujins are parody works involving characters from existing manga and anime, but sometimes they are entirely original works (like all of the titles below). There is a common misconception that doujin/doujinshi = hentai, when really it's just a word that means something was independently published. A doujin work = an indie work.
When we release a doujin on FAKKU it typically means we worked directly with the artist or circle to make that release happen (and there were no Japanese publishers involved). As an example next month we'll be releasing the
UnisiS series and Wrapping 1 - 2, that is something we did directly with the
saitom. When we do things like that we have a lot more freedom on how we distribute that content so we can make it available to subscribers, but at the same time we need to make sure the artists are reimbursed appropriately for their work so they let us release even more.
Right now we're thinking of making doujin content available to subscribers 2 weeks after it is officially released. However at any time, you are free to purchase the doujin which will add it your library and unlock the digital downloads (which are the same quality as
our books).
All that said, today all of the following doujin content is officially available to subscribers! If you enjoy reading one of these titles please consider purchasing it. Or if you have ideas on how we can make this work better, let me know.
