A Japanese Sailor suit is a fine choice for starters, it's simple, and low-budget.

My first one was Shino Aburame from Naruto, but know I just go for the ordinary Gyakuran uniform everytime I go to a con.

Depends, do you want to show skin or not? Also if you want it to be flashy or just the regular?

Wait....the con is in the summer and you don't know what you're doing yet? Holy crap, my friends and I start working on ours (ok I'm not actually working but you get the idea) a couple of months after our local con and generally finish them a bit before the con comes around again. Good luck making something that looks decent in so little time.

Since its my first time, i think the regular.. and skin wise i'm ok with either as long as i don't like a exotic dancer at the wrong con :P

Haha don't worry about being rude! But i've seen too many cosplay nazis put up photos in forums with 'OMG YOU MAKE MY EYES BLEED! JUST GO DIE', so seeing as i stand at 5'2 and have no hope of catching up with her height this summer, i might take a miss as i dont want to see my photo with 'YOU LOOK NOTHING LIKE HER YOU MIDGET' tag. Still thank you :D. Eeeep looks like i'm stuck with oriental school girl, oriental maid, oriental mini-me....XD

lol, sorry. Didn't mean to be so discouraging I was just shocked. I have a suggestion for something you could do next time though. Go as one of the My-Hime girls. Should probably be one of em that suits you I'd think.

hehe this is actually a very good point. My cosplay group and I usually start planning for the con were at, but next year, if that made sense. but either way.

what anime do you like, what body type are you etc. there's so many characters out there. also what con is it, a lot of smaller conventions dont have that many random school girls running around. but if say youre going to anime expo, theres going to be a tonne of what youre cosplaying no matter how obscure and obscene it is.

You could always post a picture of yourself and then people could give you better ideas on what to do based on that. Or whatever.
