Well, I've never cosplayed before. I plan to go to 2 conventions this year(May and August), and I'd really like to cosplay this year! I have short brown hair(like in my avatar), I'm about 5'7" and weigh around 115~120lbs, so skimpy outfits aren't really a huge issue.. I just don't know who to go as! I don't find myself searching out animes to watch so I haven't seen very many. I can't wear wigs or spend more than $200 on a costume. Can you guys give me some good ideas? I am honestly not coming up with anyone to go as e____e

Yui or Ritsu from K-on is all I could think of for short brown hair.
Edit: I figure the easiest one is the school uniforms in the OP. Harder would be the dresses in the ED. Dresses look nice though.

Oh, Yui is cuuute~! I just hope the uniform wouldn't be too hot in the summer, but that's definitely doable. I'm not sure where I'd find a skirt like that, though e_e

Someone easy & breezy for summer huh? Then go as "Kagome" of Inuyasha! just make your bow & arrow with some scrap wood, & the only costume you'll need is a green/white sailor school uniform! There, a popular anime character who's costume's both easy & breezy, perfect for a summer convention!

Honestly, the best option is the above. It's a database full of any and every animu character there is. Just take a look in the mirror then at a character. Notice certain facial characteristics, facial structure, budget, etc. If you're looking for a cheap option, "armor making" is pretty cheap and involves nothing more than cardboard, clay-type something or other or paper mache and paint.
