The about section is just another feature that gets stuck on the back burner so the admins can focus on the site's general updates/maintenance and other features. There are actually quite a few planned features that just never got around to completion, like advanced search, news archive, the favorite/images/comments tabs in the profiles, etc.
The admins just have a lot to do around here, not to mention the site is something they do in their free time, they've all got outside lives that need tending to.
