Follow a Topic

My apologies if there is a way to do this already.

I would love to have a way to follow a thread (whether I comment on them or not), so that I can get a notification of new posts, without having to monitor all the forums. This would make it easier for people to "have conversations", without the need to quote people, to notify them.

I realize this could create quite a bit of traffic for some Topics, but for me, it would still be worth it. People would have the option to 'unfollow' a topic if they lose interest.

It would also act as a bit of a 'bookmark' feature in that you could see topics of interest to you, that you have 'followed'.

Well... I suppose it would help retain forum interaction a little bit. However I wouldn't want forum notifications bundled with my follow notifications. What this forum really needs is a defibrillator though.

That's a good point, could have a control to see only certain types of notifications, like Story Posted, Comments, Forums.

It's an interesting idea. I'll look into the possibility of adding it.
