Thumbnails and preview images not loading sometimes

I've recently been running into an issue where the thumbnails for works containing controversial tags doesn't load on the search results page. The thumbnails for the first couple of results will load just fine, it's everything after that.
If I click on one of the unloaded items, the thumbnails for its preview pages also won't load. The items can be read without issue, however. Still, not having anything but the title and tags to go by is rather annoying.
I looked at the results from several of the items on the tags page, and the common thread for items whose thumbnails don't load always seems to be that they have one or more controversial tag.
Please tell me this isn't some awful new "feature."

I've been having an issue lately that the books that are controversial won't load at all and are unreadable. A few times it flashes the first page but then disappears. I can scroll between pages but nothing loads except the blank background. Half the previews are visible and half are not but both still do not load the books. Tried on mobile, desktop, incognito, and a normal browser, with all the same result. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.
