So we're looking at getting a new server for the main site pretty soon, which would be about three times as fast, which is awesome. We might set up a donation drive for it in the near future so hopefully we can raise the money for it.

I heavily modified the view online page for all of the manga. It went from a 30kb file to 4kb, so it's a big improvement. It shouldn't have a problem displaying images with Japanese characters in the filename, which it couldn't do before and is why some manga wouldn't display. The dimensions for viewing online will be 1000 height and 1400 width, which is the same as downloading the manga in medium resolution. If you want larger download the high resolution files.

We are still working on the image section, but as you can see we are working on other things in the meantime. I feel really good about the progress we have been making, it seems every few days we either improve an existing feature or add a new one. We are looking at adding a tag system to all of the manga and redoing the user profiles next. I've said it before but if you have ideas let me know, I'm always looking to make FAKKU kick more ass.

Also I saw this article on Digg about manga leading to child murder, incest, and rape. I got a laugh out of it.

The tag system sounds like a good idea, easier to find stuff.
Is it going to be the same situation? 10+ can add tags?

Then is there going to be a list of stuff people can ctrl+f find or enter it in the search bar to find? or both :o

I read the article. Usual Jack Thompson-like commentary on how manga is supposedly corrupting the youth, yet they didn't put up an image of Futari Ecchi or Berserk or something. It would really be nice if we could have people write and talk about these things and actually know what they are talking about. It reminds of when I watched the news once about the effects of violent videogames. A perfectly logical guy, I think he was from IGN or Gamespot, was talking about how the ESRB was working just fine, but the female reporter seemed dead-set in getting whoever was watching to hate the guy.

I wonder if we're going to break 700 in the "most users ever online" stat.

Go get a dedicated server for all those SQL queries that the image section was generating. :D But you'll probably have fixed that before you get the cash for a shiny server just for MySQL databasing.

That article is very common, believe or not. I'm an avid 24hr news watcher... and they have it on from time to time. I wanted to point out that some books in most school libraries are full of the same subjects.

I like the update but noticed that now you can't skip pages while viewing online... is there still a way to skip or is it only next and previous?
