I don't really like the idea of "buying chapters" as opposed to books or series' of chapters. In theory, it sounds nice, but the people who buy them typically do so out of sheer laziness (not for lack of internet mind you) or because they want to reupload to nyaa or somewhere else to make it available for free.
Granted, the paywall slows this process and people are going to pirate shit no matter what, but it seemingly gives incentive for pirates to buy shit... wait what? Did This just sound like anti-piracy at work by making pirates buy shit so they'll no longer be pirates? No? It doesn't actually work like that? Okay, just checking.
...However, if the money is used to support the artists directly, that's another story. But, I'm pretty sure the money is distributed to the publishers and THEN the employees(artists/authors etc), through their wages, commissions, royalties, etc.
If I'm wrong about that, please do prove me wrong. But, all that marketing, editing, printing, publishing, etc. has to be paid for somehow, and everyone needs to profit from it. It'd be interesting to figure out who profits from our purchases, and how much so.
