Pedophiles used to be rare, and now they're coming out by the masses, and actually have places they're allowed to live? Back in the 1800s, my country used to kill known pedophiles in incredibly excruciating ways, what happened to the good ol' days?

On a side note I hear in jails even mass murderers look down on child abusers. Usually they don't live very long there.

You're confusing pedophilia with molestation and raping children. One is a thought and the other is an act. You can fuck children and not be a pedophile and vice versa.

As for the OP, I can't really say whether the numbers of them are actually increasing, but this might be one of those "there's a lot more because we more aware/vigilant deal". Then again, maybe like false rape claims, there are also false pedophile claims. I can think of a Tolkien anecdote that would be construed as insidious rather than as innocuous as it likely was in today's fearful, neurotic society.

Personally, I find pedophiles vile. If one ever did anything to my children, I'd torture the fucker until he/she died.

As for more popping up, as logo said, could well be because it's easier to find them via the internet, and also could be like false rape. Think of how many mothers scream pedophile when they see a man playing with a child, despite that child actually being his. How many would get mad if they saw a man sitting at a park watching the kids play, not realising his own child is in there playing.

People are fast to jump on the pedophile assumptions, and people are also fast to accuse people of things, just because they can.
