Hentai is people having sex, albeit animated.
Hentai is porn.
That doesn't make hentai bad (unless you think porn is bad, but in that case, take the stick out of your ass). It just means that hentai is used for sexual release.
But it is porn. No doubt about it.
its that kind of thinking that makes things appear badder than they are. its like this: when u watch porn, u only see two people having sex, and having total disregard for one another, and are just there for the camera. but with hentai it has a story to it, u have to get to know the characters, grow with their relationships they have with other people. and they are enjoying themselves, and not just there for the camera, and to get payed. but the artists wh odraw them are.... hentai is a drawing of sex, not porn. its like looking up at the clouds, and seeing two people having sexual relations. its like seeing something, and nto just for a release. u can if u want, cuz its ok to release to it, but in the end, there are some people who dont even fao to hentai, they just watch it. some just like the fact that after 5 books, the two main characters who have been denying one another, finally stop, and u get to see what u have wanted since the begining. so think of it that way.
I see your point, but hentai is still porn. Some of it may be classy porn, but it's still porn.
And not all hentai features a good story with good characters. A lot of the time, it's just people having sex. For example, as far as I can tell, Inyouchuu does not make any sort of sense. It's just some horse-like monster raping girls. It looks cool, but it's obvious what it's meant for - you're supposed to masturbate to it. You could sit there and watch it without masturbating, thinking about what it all means, but some people do that with porn (mostly professors writing a paper or something), and that doesn't change porn into something else.
I would say that most of the time, if there is a good story in hentai, it's because someone who was part of the project to create porn wanted to do a bit of story-telling, or the story was added to increase the way people feel, so that the people who buy it aren't just watching two people have sex, but are watching two characters they care about, have sex. Because when two people walk into a room and fuck, it's boring. But when two friends care about each other and finally give in to passion, it's interesting and more fun to watch (and jerk off to).
Also, just to say it, the doujinshi that feature no sex, just lovey-dovey situations, those aren't hentai, just fan-made things.
Hentai comes in all sorts of flavors, but it is still porn. You can't paint a zit blue and say you have a jewel stuck in you. All you can do is admit that the thing is a zit and explain to people why it's normal to have it and why it's not bad.
