Hello There Fakku Community!

My name is Andrew (though friends call me Drew) but i also go by Synic! I'm a long time anime nerd and my very first anime i had the pleasure of watching was My Neighbor Totoro by Hayao Miyazaki. I'd say my anime love blossomed in elementary school when the 4 o' clock cartoon network Toonami began playing Sailor Moon, Dragonball Z, and Yu Yu Hakusho. I was a big fan of DBZ as a kid because at the time, i was taking a Taekwondo and I wanted to become strong enough to beat up Frieza (just little kid dreams you know? haha).

I've always had an ever changing mindset where i can't settle on any one thing so after high school i began studying engineering and once i became fluent in all things math related, i sort of felt at home. However something made me feel like I wasn't satisfied so i began exploring other possibilities and after wandering for a year, I finally convinced myself to get an engineering degree and take it from there.

I've been known to make lengthy conversations but in reality i'm very quiet and am a very good listener. I take it from my mother. She talks all the time. So I've learned to listen very well so as not to incur her wrath from missing something important. I've also been told that i have a very understanding personality and am able to empathize with people going through struggles. I wouldn't say it's a hobby but i do enjoy talking with people despite being an outgoing introvert.

I only recently created a Fakku account despite knowing of Fakku for years. Once lurker, now original poster. I love all things techy! Need help fixing a computer, or want to talk about the newest devices? I'm your man. Want to talk about favorite anime (i have a list!), hentai, movies, or just random occurrences (like 50% off Ube/coconut ice cream at the local H-mart!), I'm always available.

So umm, hi! I hope we get along.

I love Hayao Miyazaki's work. Sadly, I haven't seen My Neighbor Totoro. It's one of my sister's favorite films though, so it's a wonder I haven't taken the time to watch it. And Toonami is the shit!

Don't worry about it. Nobody is sure of anything getting out of high school. That's the time in our lives where we're searching for who we are. Just hone your skills and do what comes naturally to you. Engineering is a pretty safe profession. There will always be a need for engineers in the world.

I would describe myself in much the same way. Listening skills and empathy are essential skills, and also very attractive skills to the opposite sex (or so I've been told). It's also good that you can be introverted but also maintain conversation when it's important. You sound like a great guy.

Awesome! I'm not very tech-savvy, but I'd love to learn a thing or two. I'm always looking for new anime, as well, so I'd love to see that list.

Erik, as far as music goes: anything with a good beat. I love all forms of music and it's evident in all of the cds i make for my car that have 4-5 different genres (anywhere from classical, k-pop, j-pop, country, soul, to reggae. Anything goes!) on one cd! But if you were to catch what i've been listening to lately, it's been a lot of electro house, dubstep and big room. If you're interested, some of my favorites are: Justice - Cross (the entire album is phenomenal), Pretty Lights (Aimin' at your Head is awesome), and Pendulum (Immersion was the album that got me hooked).

As far as to which one is the lie, i'll wait till the end of the week. Don't want to give it away so soon.

As far as that list of anime goes, i might put it up somewhere on the boards but i'll definitely let you know when i do! I have this growing collection of great shows that i wouldn't ever mind watching again and again. I know i haven't seen them all though so i'm hoping for some suggestions as well!

Huh, Electro House is what I mostly listen to. Not a big fan of Dubstep and big room though :^(



Not quite familiar with those artists. The only songs I know from those three artists are Justice - Phantom Pt. II (Soulwax Remix) and Pendulum - Salt in the Wounds. Will check 'em out soon.

Might as well give it up now since no one else guessed haha. Erik was right! I have played Viola for most of my life. I grew up tinkering with my grandmother's piano, but started playing viola in 4th grade and continued up into my first year of college. I still play piano occasionally but after that first year in college, i haven't touched my viola but i still dream about playing once again. Complications with the nerves in my left arm get to be a hassle as you get older haha...

And yes, that does mean i went on tour in Europe. It was the summer before my sophomore year of high school and our orchestra director chose a two week long trip that began in Amsterdam, stopped midway in Brugge, and ended in Paris. We played three concerts and the most memorable was in Brugge in the middle of the town square! There was this small fountain that we gathered in front of and we each set up our stands and played for anyone walking by! It truly was a magical moment when other musicians would come up behind our chairs and read along with our music. A little awkward at first but it ended being a great experience.

And yes the one about participating in a drumline is also true! It was during the beginning of my sophomore year when my friend (who knew about my piano playing) mentioned that the marching band was looking for people to join in the Pit or the Front Ensemble. After convincing me to show up before rehearsal one day i met with the instructor who would later make me realize that my outlook on music had changed forever. I became a band kid, but i was still in orchestra. During my day it was sort of awkward haha. I didn't know anyone but the instructor stuck me on the marimba part to back up the soloist. I learned the piece by ear (which was easy since our show was modeled after pirates of the caribbean). I couldn't read music that well. I had later learned that alto clef (the staff that violas usually play in) has a very easy transition to treble and bass. I just hadn't realized it at the time. But i'm beginning to ramble haha.

I played with the band for 3 years and during those consecutive seasons i eventually began playing the drums. I migrated from the front ensemble (playing Marimba, vibraphone, keyboard, chimes, and xylophone) to the drumline in my Junior year. I played anchor bass at first (the biggest and most awesome bass drum) and in my Senior year, i was bass 2 which was the section leader's spot. We were a small little school ensemble with less than 20 people but my instructor was pushing us to go to WGI which was foreign to us at the time. I can explain WGI to those who want to listen but let's just say this was the place to prove that all that time in the practice rooms didn't go to waste.

Long story short...we made it into the top 10 in our division our second year we competed. We were going to appear in the finals! We we're going to appear on the DVD that got released every year! But as luck would have it, we couldn't stay an extra day to perform in the final round. Our band director (not my instructor) had only booked 3 days for this trip and the board of education at my school wouldn't allow for any extra days. My senior year was a bittersweet one. Haha.



Honestly it doesn't feel like that much. There are literally tons of stories i could tell you in great detail but most of those things were done by my friends and I as a collective effort. I wouldn't have gotten this far if it weren't for them. I owe it all to them. If there's one thing i did by myself, it was building a trebuchet for my design class. That was fun garage project.
