I've been quite reluctant to create an account here but the community here seems really nice and nothing ventured, nothing gained.
About me then, I'm a 23-year-old medical student. I really enjoy games, including board-games and I'm an active member of a local board-game club. I also really enjoy reading, mostly fantasy and science-fiction. I'm open to suggestions though. :)
Right now I'm finishing up Hyperion by Dan Simmons.
I like hanging around in groups of fewer people rather than large groups, I don't drink and I'm very anti-smoking.
Umm, you're free to ask me any questions I suppose. ^^

I did fish quite a lot during my summers with my grandfather but since he passed away I really haven't gone. I kind of miss it though... It's actually a reference to my Icelandic heritage. My nickname has to do with the Icelandic Cod Wars, the only war Iceland has been in and one of the few wars the United Kingdom has lost.

Oh, no. I haven't heard of Nexus before. And that seems nice, although I usually don't follow that kind of literature, ie. DnD, Warcraft, Eve and such. My favourite book/books of all time are probably the Mage Storms by Mercedes Lackey. The first book in that mini-series of Valdemar is Storm Warning and probably the best book in my opinion.

Board games you say? Have you ever heard about Agricola? It sounds boring as hell, but it's REALLY fun - I'm sure you and your board game club would enjoy it.
Also the Battlestar Galactica board game. That is a 'poker face' type of game.

Yes, although I don't like Agricola a lot it's very popular. It's basically the textbook example of good mechanics and fair play. I have played a lot of Battlestar Galactica as well with several of the expansions. It's really great, I love the "diplomatic" aspect of it and nothing beats the pleasure of winning as a Cylon.
We are currently buying Twilight Imperium for the club, I'm looking forward to playing it.
