Introducing myself

Hello everyone I'm Ao. I just started watching anime recently and started to discover my admiration for hentai. My biggest interest is mythology of all kind. Nice to meet you.

Do you have a certain type of mythology you are drawn to? I know I've always been drawn to Greek/Roman mythology. Also am a sucker for anything folklore as well (not just the Disney stuff, though that was a cherished part of my childhood.... still is even now lol).

Welcome~ Wow you only started on anime and are branching into hentai? Well variety is the spice of life~ and there is tons of variety in anime and hentai~ I also am a fan of mythology~ I like greek/celtic/european/norse mythology, I tried egyption mythology but couldn't quite get into it. Some of my favorite legends are Arthur/Artorus, Cu chulain, lugh lamfamdia (sp?), Morrigan and Hercules (also my spelling is really horrible, and I apologize for that)

I especially like Asian mythology like the Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Indian. I do find Greek, Norse and Egyptian very interesting too. I prefer Greek over Roman even though they have a lot of similarities. For folklore I enjoy them a lot both because they remind me of my childhood but also because it tells the fantasy of other people. Disney is okay but I don't like how "innocent" and "child friendly" they turned some of the stories, I do understand Disney is mainly for kids but I do believe the original stories are the best like the Little Mermaid turning into foam.

The internet is wide and some times it is unavoidable to see things even if you don't want to. I started out with One piece, Dragon Ball, Yugioh and Naruto. Out of curiosity I tried to search for fan art and found fan made comics which was very interesting and a nice way to plot twist the original story. I have read a few fan fictions too from Sword Art online which I liked a lot. I think hentai and anime is quite closely related. For some it might be a bit weird to jump to hentai right away but I got curios.
It is really nice to meet more people who have interest in mythology. In my area I'm the only one and have no one to talk to it about! I'm sure I will be happy to be here. Thank you!

I was raised both on Disney and the original tales, such as the one you mentioned by Hans Christian Handerson. Loved how vastly different most of them are such as the evil queen in snow white being forced to wear hot iron shoes and dance in them till she died or Rapunzel where her prince was blinded by the witches magic for getting pregnant then forced into a swamp till her prince found her.

I use to love Chinese and Egyptian mythology more, just been a long time since I've looked into them. I'll see if I can't find the titles, but there's some gook myth/folk anime out there.

What anime are your current favorite?

Small correction: Hans Christian Andersen, but yes the Danish fairy tale author make amazing tales just like the Grimm brothers. I like the dark and obscure twist to the stories. Like I really like Tim Burton movies and Alice in wonderland for the same reasons.

How unfortunate. You should consider taking them up again since they are both very interesting and there lies so many things in both mythology which isn't known by many.

My favorite anime is Mushishi!

Do you have a particular mythological tale or legend that you prefer?
And what exactly do you like in mythology, the creatures, the people, the morals?

Personally I love the legend of Jörmungandr, the world serpent, especially the one with Loki and Thor where Jörmungandr is turned into a cat and Thor is tricked by Loki into trying to lift him, which because the serpent supports the world is impossible. But Thor strains all his might and manages to lift the cat so that only three of its paws touch the ground, making it so Thor is supporting a quarter of the world on his shoulders.

I grew up with two parents both being mythology fanatics so legends and tales has always been a part of my childhood. The Legend of Jörmungandr especially is one story I hold dear from my childhood. From an early age mythology peeked my interest and I found myself reading a lot of books regarding the topic. What I think really made an impression on me was the dark fantasy part of it. In the beginning it was all about the mythological creatures but as I grew older I also started to develop an interest in the people and the history behind the legends. I find it interesting to compare different legends and put together part of different legends which are slightly related to each other to create an overview.

Legends I especially like. That is indeed a difficult question. Since I do like the Japanese Youkais and legends I think the story of Izanagi and Izanami is one of my favorite. I'm also very fond of the legend behind the Chinese zodiac circle and Tanabata. After those I really find the story of hercules and Oedipus really fascinating. Especially as a Psycho-Philosophy student Oedipus is one of the main themes we had to go through and I feel like this is one of the legends I really have been analyzed to the smallest detail. There is so much material and it is also very exciting to read different versions of the well-known tales. It is hard to say, it tends to differ depending on the weather and my mood too.
