I usualy wait for them to say something or say something random to start a new conversational topic.
Same here, Same here. Although i'd like to start a topic, I have nothin to say.

Well, you can bring up random topics, like what shows you or the other person have been watching lately and your opinions on them, what movies you've seen, what books you've read, and so on.
Or you can bring up political, religious, or philosophical questions. The trouble with that is, the other person may not be interested (usually the case) or you may have different opinions and end up offending each other. Really, I wouldn't bring up religion or politics, unless you know absolutely,
for certain, that the other person has very similar thoughts. Or if, you know, you don't mind never talking to that person again. Likewise, if there's someone you hate talking to, bring up religion and/or politics and disagree with them. And make sure you're adamant about how wrong the other person is.
Anyways, if a conversation stops, and you can't think of anything at all to say, end the conversation. Just say you'll talk to the person later. There's no reason to keep trying to talk if there's nothing to talk about. Of course, don't be snobby about it or anything.
Well... what if the person I am talking to is.... doesn't read books much, doesnt talk about religion and politics. And I dunno what she watches.... What could I say....
Although the last suggestion is a good idea. I'll use that sometime
