do you think the 3D phase is pointless?

I think it's pointless having a 3D TV, movies and games. the only exception to this rule is the movie avatar. I mean something just shouldn't be in 3D I.E. sports, reality show, and every new movie that is coming out.

by 3D do you mean like, the CG in Macross Frontier and Gundam evovle? Cuz I think sports and reality shows would be pretty boring if they were in 2D

For the most part, 3D just doesn't work. Now when you do something like Avatar did, just adding depth, not trying to make shit pop out at you, it works alot better. Either way, untill they can make shit 3D without making you wear glasses, it will never become mainstream.

I don't like the common 3D-Technologies aka with red-green-glasses or polarization-filter-glasses, cause it hurts my eyes and brain.
In a Human-Computer-Interaction lecture, I heard about a Technology of Phillips, who are working on a 3D-Display, which works without any head gear(cp. Autostereoscopy). I'm interested in this. But the problem of course is, that you can only experience this at a certain point of view, so that your eyes percept two different images. Also, the resolution and the maximum depth perception are still very limited.
I guess, I will wait for holograms, till I really fall for 3D. :)

Current 3D technology is pretty fail but the more we experiment hopefully someday in the future holograms and the like will be available. I really like the last few episodes of Mnemosyne where pretty much everything you interface with is a hologram and people can even wear hologram clothes. Also Sora from Ever17 is a pretty awesome idea too. Just have to wear earbuds so the lasers hit your retina right and you can hear her. We probably already have the technology to do stuff like that but it's going to take a lot of time in order for any of this to become mainstream.
