3Ds Max, Maya, Z-brush

Does anyone else know or use these?

I sort of use Z-brush once in awhile to texture things. I use XSI for modeling.

XSI? I think I've heard of that one. Isn't that the one that's free?

No. The full name is Autodesk XSI. It was Softimage previously, but they sold it to Autodesk this year.

Autodesk owns it all now. Last year they bought Maya. Gotta say Maya 2009 is way better then 2008. So now I use both Max and Maya.

Usually the updated product is the better of the programs. It's basically how they make their money.


Yeah, they've got a pretty good hold in the industry with the big three.

It's a good place to post your stuff and get feedback from professionals and other 3d artist. They can be very harsh, but they give it to you stright.

I like cgsociety better because the info/usernames. You know who they are and what profession they are, so you can gauge if their suggestions are worth listening to or not.

I was asking if anyone else knows these 3d modeling software. Their used to create the characters and objects in video games and CG movies. As well as Animation, but 90% just use Maya for that. Final Fantasy VII Advent Children was made with Maya for example.

I don't work on my comics till Friday so I got shit right now.
