500 GB or 1 TB

I need some opinions on this.

I need to get an external hard drive, due to a massive amount of porn essentially taking up all my disk space. So, I have a choice of either getting a 500 GB external hard drive for about $90, or a 1 TB external hard drive for about $120. The 1 TB seems like a better deal, but I need to know if there are any caveats I should hear about before shelling out a good part of my paycheck for it.

For my computers i have both a 1 TB and a 500 GB hard drive and neither of them have given me any problems. If i was you i would go with the 1 TB hard drive just because its only $30 more for twice the space.

What hard drive were you thinking of getting?

i agree go with the 1 TB man, much better deal.

No question, 1TB. You can never, ever ever go wrong with more space, and considering that it isn't that much more to purchase, you shouldn't even have to think about it. I could already imagine you sitting at your computer with 499GB's full, pulling out your hair and wishing you had gone to 1 TB. Considering you are a regular on this site, I can only assume that you will constantly find stuff to fill your computer with, and this way you won't have to erase/replace later on. Well, for a while at least. Even 1TB runs out eventually.

I got the 1.5tb drive from Seagate. Have had no problems with it so far but apparently if you get an older version of the drive it might have a firmware bug. I got this for $120 in December off of Newegg. Currenly only have 12% of it filled up.

That's EXACTLY the kind of thing I'm looking for. >.>

I put a terabyte on my local network a month ago, I'm very happy with it. so far. Backed up my computer first, then went on to my laptop and every other computer I could find, and I still had room for my anime and porn archives.
(Though not a lot left after that
Make sure you have DVDs as backups for really important things, and get a warranty, but otherwise, go big.

*sigh*...to think I'm working on 20 GB right now -_- I really need to think about upgrading myself...well, there are other things I should take care of first, this computer can barely pull off a game of solitaire...

great deals are great if you jus look for them

as far as i know there aren't any problems with those hd's
and besides you can store more for only a 30 bucks difference

You know whats funny? I just went out the other day and bought this same external hard drive (my 120GB's been full for months). I didn't have enough money for one without its own power source, so I went with this one instead. Pretty good, although I'll fill it up eventually.

Go for the 1TB. It's well worth the extra $20, and I agree - 500GB can be used up in a blink of an eye.

I would go for the Terabyte. You will get double the size and spend less money.
