Administrator privilege

Ummm i'm trying to install this game... and it says i need administrator privilege....But..... I went to properties and checked the check box that said give this file administrator privileges AND i tried to play with Run as Administrator. but even then it asks me for administrator privileges? can someone help? i'm kinda stumped..

Are you running Vista?

go to control panel then user accounts. you can change you account status there to administrator

I'm running vista, and it says I'm already the administrator.

Ah, I had the same problem a while back.
Try going to Control Panel, Security Centre and then turning off the User Account Control. Then restart your computer and you shouldn't (hopefully) get that message popping up anymore.

Stupid user protection... My least favorite feature in Visa...

How very odd. You did restart your computer right? It doesn't work if you just turn it off. I really can't think of any other thing it could be. If I do think of something, I'll let you know.

I knew it, it's just UAC, you need to disable it.

I already turned it off :( using proper restarting procedures.

Where are you running the installer from? Could try moving it to another area(program files, my documents) assuming it's not on a CD.

This is a long shot but maybe you don't have ownership over the install location?

Even if its for the wrong OS it should be similar. Make sure to tick the button to apply to subfolders as well.

If you already have ownership or that doesn't work, try running it in XP compatibility mode.

Ugh. Nothing seems to be helping. But thx everybody.

I am currently just to tired to google it for you, but you can set your windows into test mode, this will disable ALL vista crap regarding user control. The ting is that even turning the crap off does not actually turn it off, it just lets you do a bit more without asking.

So google how to set it into test mode (it's a command line thing) and I will almost grantee you that it will not complain.

I used this trick my self when I wanted access to my linux partition from vista, and I found out that turning of access control did not mean what I thought it meant...

you go to computer then right click the CD and right click the installation program and press run as administrator
