Computer failure

It happens a lot to me I have a shitty ass HP within the past 2 months I had to restore my hard drive 5 times and it always has problems.
Today I unplug my computer so I can clean out my desk, When I go to plug it back in...it doesn't turn on. I switch power cables different outlets nothing works at all.
Finally I unplug the power supply and do some stuff and it works.
So have you ever had some sort of computer failure? What did you do when it happened.

I have in the past, and every time after about a month of problems the computer finally kicks the bucket. I don't think it is just my imagination, but they just don't make them like the used to be. Computers are so cheap nowadays because they are made from half-assed materials. I remember my first PC back in 1997 cost $2000, but they thing lasted for over ten years, and it was put through Hell and back. I'm lucky to get a PC that lasts three years now.
This computer is about two years old, and is already giving me problems. I switched to Unix just so I could stop putting so much strain on the computer by running Vista. *shrugs*
I always just try to save up some money because every few years it is time to buy a new computer, but maybe I just have bad luck. *shrugs*

I bought this computer in 2005 for about $1200 and a week after the warranty ran out it started to give me problems.
I doubt my computer will last 2 more months.

Built my own computer from scratch 5 years ago. Had a bad power supply once which I think made my RAM on my video card go bad. I bought a more powerful one after that incident and luckily Newegg replaced my card for free with free shipping and because the card wasnt in stock anymore i got a better one to boot. Other than that the thing is rock solid. I keep my OS on a seperate partition from anything else so in case it does blow then I dont have to worry about much. I have a slipstream CD that I made that will get me back to where I was within a couple of hours. The important thing is to keep a backup of your registry so you don't have to mess with reconfiguring anything and to keep your Documents and Settings folder on a different partition. Its good to have a plan.
