Seriously. The way it reflects on death and regret is as poetic as a mainstream band can get. I'm not much of a music critic, but the vocals and sound is simply awesome (which I can confidently say isn't very emo). So yeah, don't dismiss it as emo crap and freaking buy the album.

there is nothing poetic about emo-ism. i've heard two of the songs on the black parade and find nothing sincere or astounding about any of them. you may say two songs is too small a sample size to judge an album or a band, but, this is the one case where i actually follow the reputation that precedes.

You can't take anything I say seriously now? How petty.
All I can really say is that I haven't heard any of MCRs other stuff, but I've even heard advocates of The Black Parade say that it's typical emo fare, so I'm not really interested in looking into it. But I can honestly say that this album isn't the generic "slit my wrists and watch me bleed" shit. Also, except for a couple songs, it doesn't even sound that emo. Again, I'm not much of a music person, so my opinion may be worthless, but I really liked this album.

MCR rocks! I was at a concert of theirs in Helsinki , Finland and they were amazing live. The Black Parade album itself is great, though I've never really liked the title song though. It is rather emo though, but hey so am I? This Is How I Disappear is just something i never get bored listening at.

Personally, I don't like them. I've heard a number of their songs and they irritate. I can't say that there isn't anything poetic to their music because I was put off before I could listen enough to get any kind of deeper meaning. To each his own and I don't have anything against the people that listen to them, I just have them on a list of bands that I go to one of their shows to hit them with boomerangs.
As for the emo thing, I'm not a big fan of emo culture either. I know there's more to it than what is portrayed, but I never get a chance to meet any of those true emo people. Its always the "I'm sad and I'm gonna go cut myself because no one understands me" people.
