Creating an FTP site

Ok, I searched the forums for this and couldn't find anything, so if anyone finds something that makes this look like a re-post please let me know.

Ok, now down to business, I'm sure this is going to sound like a completely idiotic question, and I should know the answer to this, but for some reason I don't, so here goes, How the hell do I go about creating an FTP site? I've made a new template for my web site (www.dvl-productions.com) in publisher 2007 and now I want to post it on office live (the place that hosts my web site) but to do it, I need to upload the files for it to an FTP site, (at least that's how I understood it anyways.)
If anyone could tell me how to go about this, or at least point me in the right direction, that'd be awesome, thanks

As far as i can tell by searching they dont offer FTP, they have a upload system online (not sure though). How did you manage to upload the website you currently have?

Mmm. It's a Microsoft server, probably with IIS.

In fact, that site is just hosted by Microsoft. How does that work?

Confusing, could you tell me a little more about your website? You don't have FTP access to the IP address because you appear to be using shared hosting.

I created it through the page designer that they provide.

Alright i found a solution, i went ahead and joined office live for this.

- Go to your website manager and click the dropdown menu called "Site Actions" and press "Activate advanced design features".

- Press the same dropdown menu but this time press "Activate third-party design tools" just confirm every message that pops up and follow directions. WARNING! This deletes all pages you currently have

OPTIONAL: To access your Web site folder, the Office Live Web folder connector must be installed on your computer. If you have Microsoft Windows Vista or Microsoft Office 2007 installed on your computer, you do not need to install the connector.

- Press the "Go to your Web site folder" button/icon.

- Now a window popups which will ask you for you account details (username/password). Press Ok

- You will be taken into your folders (this resembles FTP alot, not sure if you can actually connect via FTP to this adress though, since you needed the connector earlier on).

- Go into the folder called shared, this is where your website is located at (all html, php, ect). Just copy your website into this folder and your done.

If you can, it's not over the standard port, because I timed out when I tried a few addresses in the same IP block.

Well, I tried what quietus suggested, and it worked part of the way, but for some reason my computer won't let me log in properly to the web folder, so I gotta wait til I can do it from a another computer. Thanks for the help though :)

I too had some problems with login, as in the server keeps asking me for the username/password. I tried adding my NET account to my windows account and this seems to solve the problem. You might wanna try this by going to Control Panel > User Accounts > [Your Windows Account] > Setup my account to use a .NET passport.

I'm not quite sure how to do that in Vista, but I'll look it up, thanks again for the help.
