DVD PROB!

Guys help me about my DVD rom Prob ok first.... My DVD rom is old but it can read....... but the problem is.... a week ago i want to install a game " turn on the computer" then suddenly i turn on my comp But only just black screen.... so i check my mother board i try to clean take out the dust didn't work black screen. so i unplug IDE cable of the dvd rom first before the other then... suddenly came back to normal.. but for some reason no dvd rom inserted... try to check again and then again black screen when inserted dvd rom. i try to put dvd to another computer but turn out perfectly normal....
guy can you give me a hint what is the Problem.. Motherboard,IDE Slot / IDE Cable or DVD rom?

If you have a spare IDE cable, try using that first. If it boots up fine then it's the cable, if not then it might be the DVD drive.

Ok I tried this morning changing IDE cable but Nothing works and i tried to change another dvd rom but same happens black screen and the light of those two dvd roms always blinking never stops. then black screen...

Did you say ide dam that thing is old....(sorry), Your computer is probably trying to boot from your cd-rom trygoing in the bios and take your cd-rom from the boot options(sorry cant go in to detail bucause im on a wii right now(my segate drive failed on me again))

The ide cable that is connecting the cd-rom to the mother board I think, and my idea is in the post above why isnt it is not working (and ftw how old is your pc)

If you cant figure out the problem take the computer or cd-rom back to the manufacturer, and how is your computer the latest since in 2007 SATA replaced IDE

just what clix mentioned, it was my first guess as well, its trying to boot from the drive - thats why its black and not blue. But you can tell us what it says on the black to have a better idea on what is up. Its possible its not broken
