If "accident" was a name of another font, then it would be a case of play on words.

I doubt it was intended as anything more than a casual cartoon. Helvetica is possibly the most popular font style, and well known with Times New Roman. A lot of corporations use Helvetica as their main type font.

Ahem. Yeah it's based on the font, and has some meaning behind it.

I had a religious nut job history teacher that constantly gave us religious babble all the time. He used that same explanation as 'proof', "WE'RE TOO PERFECT TO BE A RESULT FROM AN EXPLOSION / FROM MONKEYS".

I read the post properly (forgive me, I'm a bit out of tonight) yeah, it's relating what he's saying to what a lot of religious people use as proof for God. Basically saying that, the way we were made is too perfect to be an accident. I'm not against religious folk, but when they use that as proof it's hilarious.

While I understand it I must say that this person is high on their own shit and I would punch them if I met them.

Now that I know what it was supposed to be about, it isn't all that funny anymore... :(

People like that need to feel intellectually superior because it's the only thing they have confidence in.

Basically, this picture is making fun of the idea of Intelligent Design. The basis for this picture is that many religious professors, with confronted with the idea of "evolution" and creation, began their arguments or included the idea of design being too perfect and flawless for it to have occured by itself, so herein lies the the joke about the Helvetica font. More specifically, since intelligent design was originally directed towards the most basic of lifeforms, helvetica is replacing that "basic lifeform", for I think Helvetica is the basic font that all computers have (confirmation needed).

They say that everything was created by an "Intelligent Designer", which is their way of saying "God"(most will not specify that they are talking about God, however). The argument I believe extends to the idea that this Intelligent Designer was also guiding the "evolution" of beings, thus forgoing the notion of natural selection.

I love that it insults people who don't look for hidden metaphors and satire as simply being stupid. Apparently it means you are under the age of nineteen and have no idea of any of the underlying themes of creation.

Well, maybe not all peeps like it. I just showed this to my uncle and he just shrugged and compared it to a joke regarding the Periodic Table of Elements.
