1. Don't use the administrator profile as your main user profile (no-brainer, this one).
2. You can't migrate the administrator profile without logging in to it or having another profile with administrator access ready, as a file lock will be in place.
3. Coloured text makes you look like a boob.
The solution, therefore is:
1. Power up a second ("client") computer
2. Connect the two computers via a crossed ethernet cable, or via an existing LAN.
3. Access the target ("host") computer (with the damaged profile) by navigating your file browser to
\\HOST-IP\C$
4. You will be prompted to provide administrator privilege authentication information for the host computer*
5. Navigate to the
Documents and Settings folder on the host computer
6. Copy the entire "Administrator" profile from this folder, preferably using one of the synchronization applications I provided
here
7. Re-install your OS on the host computer
8. Restore what data you desire from the profile back-up.
*If you are not being prompted for authentication information, connect to
\\HOST-IP\C$ via
EXPLORER>EXTRAS>CONNECT NETWORK DRIVE, making expert use of the option "provide alternate authentication".
