I have assimilated!

So when have you assimilated into a culture?

I ask this because I have been living in Japan for the past 3 mo. and for the last week I have been dreaming in Japanese. Everyone in my dream will speak it, even those I know don't know how to speak japanese. Now it is not ACTUAL japanese, just my brain telling me it is. It can't be because I don't know japanese. But... the guys at work said that when you start dreaming in another language, you have assimilated into that culture. It sounds very borg like...

So when do you think that a person has assimilated into another culture?
BTW I didn't know if I should should post this here or in Serious discussion...

Well it doesn't have to be extreme like in my case. I actually woke up and for a second I thouht "holy shit i can talk in japanese..!"
Just moving from New York to Dallas or north italy to south italy is a culture shock.

When I travel back to my homeland, it's the same for me. The people in my dream are speaking in the native tongue, I guess because I hear it everywhere I go. When I go back to the US and hear proper English and the "American Accent" I get culture shock XD.

When I flew over to El Salvador to visit my mom's sister and my cousins. It was alot different than the states due to the country being in poverty and how I'm very prone to diseases over there. But my mom kept telling me not to speak english over there and speak only in spanish or let her do the talking since I didn't know to much spanish. It had to do something with them not like americans that much or something idk, but damn was it hot over there due to the humidity and for some odd reason the mosquitos loved my blood. >.>

never had to assimilate to anything really guess i just another stupid American who dont know notin XD
