So I'm in the market for a new computer, because well my laptop is going to Hell in a hand basket, right now. Falling apart and running low on disk space(even after clearing out some junk files). But these are the specs I'm looking at:
PROCESSOR:
Intel® Pentium® dual-core processor E2220 (1MB L2, 2.4GHz, 800FSB)
OPERATING SYSTEM:
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Service Pack 1
MEMORY:
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz (2 DIMM)
HARD DRIVE:
320GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache
OPTICAL DRIVE:
16X DVD+/-RW Drive
VIDEO CARD:
Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
SOUND:
Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
MEDIA READER:
19 in 1 Media Card Reader
WIRELESS:
Internal PCI 802.11g Wireless Network Card
The price for said machine is $429.00 USD. Good buy?
That is indeed a good buy, but I'd suggest buying an aftermarket graphics card. Even though your not going to be doing anything graphics intensive, it's good to have one. Even if your doing nothing graphics intensive onboard graphics suck up your physical memory. So graphics relying on its own gpu and ram is less stress on your system.
Overall it's good. I would also suggest buying an external HD, not only to save the data on your existing computer, but to stash your videos, pictures, etc. Generally keep your internal HD free from miscellaneous files so it can run to it's full potential.
