In A Login Logoff Loop .....Please Help Trojan

Hi...the other day i downloaded a game on my desktop from Yahoo and infected my computer with a trojan Horse virus. My AVG told me to heal it and run in power mode.. did that and deleted a use...exe file which was associated with the virus.
However after i restarted my computer it was stuck in a log in log off mode, when ever i click on the administrator. it loads settings then logs off again
I wish to keep all my music , movies and most of all all my Fakku downloads
Please help me...I do not have the xp cd that other site recommend as a solution and now i am stuck at the cyber cafe. My computer knowledge is limited, simple instructions please, thanks

Yeah i tried safe mode and even running from the last good configuration

If Safe Mode doesn't work then you are seriously screwed. You will need a Windows XP Installation CD to perform a repair installation. You won't lose anything. I'm sure you can get one off one of your friends or something.

You are right. I am screwed. I had to take my desktop to the shop and was charged an exorbitant fee.

Here. i feel compelled to warn people be careful when installing AVG, Norton and Symantec which might wrongly say .exe files are virus when in fact they are not. Ignore it, do not try to delete it nor heal it, if not YOU ARE SCREWED LIKE ME

That sucks man.
I got a corporate edition of symantec antivirus and it catches just about everything you could possibly throw at it. Trojans, keyloggers, viruses, worms, this comp has had them all and symantec caught em all. The only really nasty one I've had was one that actually disabled my antivirus then proceeded to upload all those bad things that I mentioned earlier on my comp. Good thing I know what I'm doing and I can usually fix it. I've only had to reformat my comp maybe twice in 10 years and that's because I was bored and experimented with vista for a bit then promptly switched back to xp.

From now on, it is the original and paid for!!!!
My laptop had Vista pre-installed but it was crap. I could not install any games or software and it always lagged. I hate it.
Vista is not for gamers!!!
And AVG screwed me!!

Are you trying to help people? :roll: what if it is a virus? look at the file first, if you see it safe: then don`t do a thing. If you feel or think its not: then heel or delete it.

When I need ot help someone with a virus problem, I whip out a linux bootdisc filled with custom tool and use that to clean them up. No damage, super portable, and if you are good you can ask for some payment of some kind. (The alternative is usually a lot of money...)
I always have a few things on hand for this kind of thing.
And hey, if there is no hope of clearing it out, just use linux to back everything you need up carefully. Then start over in a new, fresh, secure, happy windows install.

You need Vista for DX10-only games.
